Whoever negotiated that sliding scale payment based on attendance for the Tiger side was totally incompetent. Average right at 12K and get less that half of the $? That’s unbelievable.

This thread is Pope, but the attendance is pitiful. Thank you Tubby for the great schedule and excitement you brought to the Forum.[/i]

Yeah, I somehow missed the other thread on this.

Just amazing only 2 games broke the minimum 6k attendance, LSU and Cincinatti.

RE: Turnstile
If the UC game has as much of an effect on the turnstile numbers as it did on announced. Then with it the turnstile would have been around 4,200 without it.

It’s common sense to know that if your basketball teams had outdrawn all but about 30 teams in the nation and you get less than half of your payout. That deal is so skewed in the Grizz favor, it’s ludicrous. Why you want to over complicate a simple situation against the Tigers, I have no idea. I suspect that will be renegotiated.

Pretty sure, at the time, they couldn't see a situation where we werent bringing in 12k average. How the mighty have fallen, took 2 bad hires with 2 bad contracts to get it to that point.

It's not common sense at all. The percentage of max contract value is mostly irrelevant as a standalone measure. The payout sounds like a rev share of non-ticket revenue. These deals are based on detailed financial modelling. The question isn't % of the max contract amount - it has to do with underlying revenue assumptions for the forum/concession owners and whatever other sources of revenue less operating expenses.

Basically the forum is saying it's only worth it for us to even have you on the docket if you draw at least 6k, resulting in revenue for us of X in lease fees plus Y in non-ticket revenue. And the University is saying if we get over 6k your non-ticket revenue will be Y+Z and since we are the draw we should get some % of Z. Whether X, Y and Z are fair figures as deal terms is far beyond "common sense"

once again you are wrong.

The deal favors the tigers in ways that it will never again favor the Tigers. The Grizzlies were new to town and the Tigers had a building to play in instead of the FedExForum. The tigers had leverage now we have NONE.

The Grizzlies will get more FROM the Tigers in any new negotiation. If you don't understand this you just are not very smart. The Grizzles hold all the cards moving forward.

What lease pays you to utilize a building?

Usually the tenant PAYS rent not receives a payment.

And if you truly believe what you just wrote, you do not have a clue about Memphis politics. The Tigers are going to come out with a better deal. And if you don’t call the Grizz keeping ALL GAME DAY REVENUE a payment you are just dumb. . This board alone has spent $800K alone in beer concessions the past couple of seasons.

The ANNOUNCED attendance average was only 6,208 according to official Tigers box scores and that includes tickets sold and not turnstile. And the UC game helped to raise that up by an average of 300+ per game.

Those numbers from the Grizzlies are certainly reasonably correct.
