Just like Kyle Allen was going to be our savior because he was a 5-star. It doesn’t work that way.
Memphis lost a stud QB and is replacing him with a complete and utter question mark. Houston has D’Eriq King. Advantage: Houston
If King was any good, I might agree that you might have an advantage at one position; two if you include Oliver when he isn't injured.
also
QB: Houston
WR: Memphis
RB: memphis (but its close)
OL: close (both arent amazing)
DT: houston by 500 miles
DE: Houston by 200 miles
LB: Houston
Safety: Houston, it will be by 200 miles if top 50 recruit anderson from ole miss gets a waiver (looks likely)
CB: memphis, but your whole unit overall isnt good, putting for tj carter..its probably houston if we are judging the whole unit (neither are great)

You lost 5 games last year and all of a sudden you are somehow the favourite in the west? Maybe you can borrow a few Elvis impersonators to replace your mediocre quarterback and two top wide receivers.
Scheduling always plays a factor in who ends up winning a division and/or hosting a champ game.
Memphis has its 2 toughest conf games at home this year: vs UCF and vs Houston
Those 2 games can help decide who wins the west and maybe even hosts the AAC Championship Game.

You probably not aware of Houston's new OC... Don't worry you will soon.
I do expect opponents defenses to FAKE injuries when Houston's offense gets rolling.
UCF lost all 3 TE's (including Akins who left early to NFL), their #1 WR Smith who also left early to the NFL, plus 3 OL.
Numerous losses on DL, obviously losing Griffen at LB, plus UCF lost #1 DB/Kick-Ount Returner Hughes who left early as well to the NFL.
Yes, Milton and most RB's are back...but with new offense, switch to 4/3 Defense and losing key players early to the NFL, UCF has some question marks entering the 2018 season.
Nonsense.
That offense will be faster and score more points, believe me. The D will be better too.
RE: Way too early 2018 FB Top 25: UCF #17, Memphis #23
UCF's offense is supposed to be faster. Interesting question though: Is that ALWAYS a good thing ?
UCF's offense was fast last season, but it also had a lot of chemistry. Could an even faster tempo mess with chemistry and timing ? Could it tire out the defense even more so ?
Fortunately, with the backfield still intact, the offense can slow things too if need be....

You do realize that your defense was one of the few. last season, where our offense actually had a pulse. Being better than that defense isn't much to brag about.
RE: Way too early 2018 FB Top 25: UCF #17, Memphis #23
Just a note for UCF's spring game - if our first team offense puts up a lot of points on our second string defense - watch out they are even better!! But if the second stream defense holds them - watch out, our defense has depth!!
If our first team defense shuts out our second team offense, then the rest of the conference is really in trouble - our defense got better!! If our second string offense scores at will, you better be scared because look how deep we are!!

losing our top 2 wr might actually be a blessing, both of them run a 4.8, not kidding their pro-day numbers were 4.8-ish, they had amazing hands, andd caught everything thrown there way, but they were slow
houston offense had no big plays last year at all, at one point in the season, every single player in our starting line up on offense ran a 4.7. we dinked and dunked to medicore stats..we are adding dramatically fast wr
houston fans are hyped becuase we honestly had the best defense in the league last year, and that was being put in horrible situations by the offense from constant 3 and outs (tiresome) and turnovers (short field)..
our defense should be just as good if not better than last year...(added 3 top 150 all-american transfers, and played alot of freshmen last year)
now we added briles jr as OC, who's average offensive ranking is top 5, fau didnt have a qb last year and he still put up a top 10 offense. king played great to finish out last year in his 5 games. according to pff, he finished the #1 efficient g5 qb (with a slight edge of milton)...now add king completely dominated in the spring game and is THRIVING in the new offense
Plus Houston gets Tulane at home this year. Don't have to try and slay that beast on the road this year

I guess we'll just have to see how much better, huh?

It's easier to slow down later. Hard to speed things up if you haven't practice it. Everything will be about tempo to try to create mismatches and keep the opponents off guard. The entire league has film on this team and has an offseason to plan an attack on the weaknesses of each player. It is critical that they have a 2nd (or 3rd) act. Last year's stuff won't work as well this year.

I just don't buy that. Read the details in Post #4. I think it will be a horse race, definitely not a heavy favorite, either way, which the phrase "goes through XXX" implies.
What should really scare you and all teams in the West is that Winchester left the team.
The same CB that every school Houston faced picked on almost every series
