UABOT recognizes downtown stadium effort
From UABOT meeting today at UAH:

Ed Enoch @EdEnoch

It looks like the board is adding a resolution on the BJCC stadium project, recognizing the groups involved in the project.

Ed Enoch @EdEnoch

...Trustee Finis St. John is presenting the resolution recognizing stadium project at BJCC.
..."We have been very involved and very supportive of this project," St. John said.
...The resolution recognizes city, county, state, UAB athletics foundation, corporate partners who worked on stadium project, which would be home of UAB football in the future.
...Trustee John England notes the conversation about a stadium in Birmingham has been ongoing for the 20 years he has been on the board. "All I can say at this point and time is we finally did it," England said.

RE: UABOT recognizes downtown stadium effort
While conditioned by past performances to be cautious about anything done by the BOT, we do realize the recent changes in the post Bryant attitude toward UAB. We can hope the new BOT attitude will carry on into the future for the sake of UAB athletics, the status of UAB as a university and the good it will do for the whole state in this new century.

Well, they didn't stop UAB from doing positive things. No one removed a pro-UAB item from the BOT agenda without discussion like Bryant did with our on-campus stadium proposal.

They aren't as bad as they were. No doubt they are more UAB friendly than any time in the past.

It would be helpful if they, just once, acknowledged the fact there have been strained relations between the board and UAB. That things have been said and done that turned out to be not in the best interest of UAB, the UA system or the state.

But then I expect monkeys to fly out of my butt before that happens

Just because it shed it's skin, it's still a snake.

I still don't trust them. England is garbage in my eye and as well as St. John and Espy.

How nice of them to speak out on this after clamming up when Cubby Bear & Fess decided to nix the on campus stadium.

They realize they can't shut us down again without looking over their individual shoulders the rest of their lives so they conveniently congratulate us on this achievement.

They know they have to have a strong UAB to be able to float the payments on their massive debt!

I'm so happy the BOT allowed Birmingham to vote themselves a stadium.
