In terms of Mooney’s meetings this week, it sounds like Texas Tech coach Chris Beard left a lasting impression on him.

“Honestly their head coach reminded me a lot of my previous head coach Craig Smith,” Mooney said. “In a lot of ways, they are different, but similar. He was able to get me to believe in him and what he has going on there. I feel like he believes in me and my game and I feel like they are building something special.”

Yeah, I didn't mean it in a revise history way. I meant it as in hindsight. Of course we got into a bidding war with them. They definitely wanted to keep him. In fact, it made me feel better about the hiring that their AD wanted to keep him so much. But in hindsight, they ended up getting the much, much better deal.

Wasn't Beard's name being thrown around here before we hired Tubby?
