The Turks have been in Iraq for a while, but they have previously limited their attacks to abandoned villages where the PKK (the Turkish Kurdish Independence group) has operated from. Now they are attacking villages with Iraqi Kurds in them.

Oh are you going to sign and serve in the Army? You want US troops in Syria and Iraq?
I thought the left was against all of the USA meddling on the Middle East? But since Trump is POTUS we should escalate it. Typical lib nonsense.
Russia is getting cozy with the Turks. Turkey is purchasing Russian arms and cooperating with Asssad and Russian on military operations in Syria. Erdogan is also a buddy of the Iranians.
At some point we will realize the Turks are not our friends. Never have been really. I’m good riding with the Kurds and the Israelies. Screw everyone else in the Middle East. We don’t need thier oil anyway. Give the Kurds a nation and slap a big azz US airbase there.

Kurds already have a nation, as do the Scots and Welsh. They just don't have a state to oversee their potential country. I do agree that they should become a nation-state with a country that overlaps the current borders of Iraq and Turkey.
Nation = people
state = government that a nation gives power to
country = landmass that a state controls

Heading this direction myself.
The Turks USED to be pretty good actors, my Dad and his colleagues travelled there and all over the Middle East, including Afghanistan, Pakistan etc a generation ago. And while no Sandals resort, they never had any real problems.
Since ‘79 and the fall of the Shah, the assignation of Sadat and all this other crap, the ME has slid back to the stone ages or worse.
Turkey is apparently the most recent place trying like hell to lose its place among the rest of the civilized world. This Erdogan character is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Methinks he is one bad hombre...

Watched all of that, hard to turn away.
That’s some serious ish that guys put himself in to. it’s near meaningless but I’d hope he wins a Pulitzer or Grammy or whatever the heck someone doing that could win.
What a screwed up situation.
Someone tell me, I am admittedly lacking here-
Why the hate for the Kurds? They seem almost the only semi-civilized directly involved here, but everyone else seems to want them dead and gone. (?). If anyone is deserving of a carved out “homeland” it may well be them.
Yazidi Religion is in trouble. The people are very few. Yazidi combines Judaism, Christian, Islam and Buddhist faiths all rolled into one. They are fewer than the Kurds. The Kurds came to their rescue after what ISIS did to them. Now, they are also being wiped out by the Turks because the Kurds have been protecting the smaller minority groups.

IDK other than they are an ethnic group. So I guess, besides the Shia Sunni thing, Arabs or Persians or other ethnic groups don't like them. In the 80's both Iraq and Iran targeted them killing hundreds of thousands.

They occupy a big chunk of Turkey and have a good bit of Iraq's oil and all of Syria's.
