RE: Groeschen: Will Hayden Moore Hang on to His Job?
I've always felt like Moore was talented but protection/lack of separation from receivers got into his head and created some bad habits. A lot of times he'd get happy feet and flush out even when protection held up. These are very difficult habits to break, hopefully he can get it done.

RE: Groeschen: Will Hayden Moore Hang on to His Job?
I am loving the part of the story about Desmond Ridder being in the mix for QB.

Why? (Thanks for asking)

A year and a half ago, I remember a bunch of posters deriding this recruit. (Not all of you, but a substantial bunch). His ratings were too low. He should change to WR. On and on it went. Most of us knew little about him beyond 90 seconds of highlight video.

But some coaches saw something, and gave a young man a chance.
And that young man is growing and trying to take advantage of his chance.

I love that story, even if he ends up 3rd string, and never takes meaningful snaps. That is part of the beauty of college football. Young players growing and taking advantage of their chances. And not enough of us on this board celebrate that.

I went back to 92' (Lance Harp) to compare Moore with the all of the UC starting QBs. He is in the middle to upper half. Considering the O line play and epic drops by the WRs last season, 20 TDs to 9 INTs is pretty good.
So who is starting at O line next season, anyone know?

I don't know if he suffers from the same affliction as Jon Kitna (small hands) but Moore fumbles the ball a lot. He had six fumbles last year in 12 games-- that's 1 every other game. Btw, that is not just a one year aberration, he had 6 fumbles the year before and 8 the year before that. I detect a trend.

That seems to be a lot. BTW UC had 7 lost fumbles which right around the middle of the pack in D1. Also UC was -5 in TO margin, around #92. Scoring offense was bad, 32 TDs total. UCF was #1 with 80. Scoring D was #94. The O and D needs much improvement along with forcing more TOs.

This is the part of the game that drives me absolutely nuts. Inevitably, when he drops back I cringe. If the sack happens, I envision the ball dribbling away from the pile of humanity. Sometimes one of our lineman jump on the ball for a 12 yard loss. The other times we lose the ball.

RE: Groeschen: Will Hayden Moore Hang on to His Job?
I for one would rather the UC coaches make a good educated guess on who the real future at QB is for UC and play that guy this year. Hayden Moore is not the right guy for the job and with him at the helm UC is a .500 team at best. So why waste another year. Since UC is not likely to do anything special this year, give the kid who is your future some experience.

Hayden by the numbers....
QB Rating - 132 to 123 to 118 ... a decrease each year.
Completion % - 59 to 57 to 56 ... a decrease each year.
Career - 40 TDs to 37 INT's ... terrible and even his best year he was only a 2:1 ratio which is bad for the collegiate level
20 fumbles in 32 games played ... terrible.
