$120 was the amount the Ivy League charged before this... ESPN+ is $5/mo

Since soccer matches last about 2 hours then maybe - MAYBE - a few games starting at 5:30 would be a possibility.

The late Saturday 2:45 window didn’t start until late December last year. Still plenty of room for AAC content. That said, I still think what makes far more sense is a split of the AAC first tier rights between NBC and ESPN. It would give each about a 25 game package that makes much more sense for each at a cost that’s just 50-60% of the total package (which neither network really needs and NBC doesn’t have room for).

The rest you can sell off to CBS-Sports, ESPN-Plus, or some other streaming network.

Still says "select" 2:45 Sat windows. Even if NBC grabbed a 25 game AAC package like I suggest--the vast majority of it will be on NBC-Sports, not NBC Broadcast. I would expect no more than 3-6 windows on the big NBC OTA Peacock. We probably only have maybe a dozen games that make sense for that kind of window--with ESPN/ABC having half of them in my scenario. We still make a lot of sense for NBC---especially with Ivy League now gone.

How are the premier soccer leagues ratings in the US? I can't imagine it is that great plus the lack of commercials hurt them.

Ratings are generally similar to AAC football---but I suspect they would fall off dramatically in that late 2:45 slot. Premier League has been running in the earlier slots where they really had no significant competition---certainly not going head to head with the CBS SEC game of the week. I havent looked, but my guess is the 12:45 slots probably didnt do as well in the ratings as there was a lot of college football competition that simply isnt there in the Sat AM.

Interesting point about commercials. I would think football is simply more profitable for OTA networks than soccer since football has so many stoppages for commercials (all else being equal).

nbc can literally play them whenever they want, like whenever they want....its not live...anyone here thought maybe they play tap delayed premier league on Saturdays because they dont have any other content

No they're live.

8:30 am et = 12:30pm London time

2:45 pm et = 6:45pm London time

Tops we are looking at 10-15 time slots. NBC would still have room for 20+ time slots at 2:45 Saturdays.

NBC looks like they will be a contender. I see them running premier into a 15-30 min pregame show followed by a football double header with a highlight pregame sandwiched in-between. That would compete well with cbs and fox ota and espn's block scheduling all day football. Solid programing, the central time zone teams give them some flexibility in scheduling and times.

Um, that's not correct in any way. Every PL game is broadcast or streamed live by NBCSports. You can watch more live Premier League games in the United States than you can(legally) in the UK.

UK is 5 hours ahead, not 4.

ESPN+ is only $60 per year (4.99/mo).

Actually. $49.99/year if paid in full. $4.99 month to month.

You guys are going to be an interesting case. Because of how so embedded you are with ESPN and the exposure that Aresco wants you may not have any other choice. Seems like ESPN is saying that if you want any exposure with us, we need all the inventory you have to put on the News/U channels and the ESPN Plus platform.

Ideally we keep the deal as is but give them the Olympic sports for the ESPN+ service and I return they give us a standard graphics package for all schools to use.

We have some football and basketball games on ESPN-3. Frankly, I dont really have an issue if those were moved to ESPN-Plus in the next deal. Say 25 games to ESPN on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU + 25 games to NBC on NBC-OTA and NBC-Sports. The rest on either CBS-Sports or ESPN+Plus. We get that and about 8 million a year per team---Im good. Heck we might even get another million a team from CBS-Sports for the best of the leftover stuff.
