True. This game is a one possession game if Monarchc Nation hits it’s free throws.

Overseas Elite wins 71-61. Given that OE has *never lost* in this tournament, I'd say it was a good effort for Monarch Nation, free throws notwithstanding. Maybe next year they'll get a better seed and have a better run.

Agreed - I think we could have won that game if Trey played. And I appreciate the VCU fans cheering for an old rival. It just isn’t right we’re not in the same conference...ODU/VCU are like peas and carrots.

Yeah I noticed them cheering. More or less that Virginia pride.

I don't watch the NBA anymore but I would totally support and watch this type of basketball with alumni representing their schools. It would be neat to have an alumni team play a semi-pro schedule vs other alumni teams during the summer with a national champ winning the jackpot at the end of summer.

I assume Vcu fans were cheering for us because they don’t want to have to play overseas elite themselves.

Guys are 21-0.

We had no real consistent playmakers on offense and it killed us at the end.

I really think Trey would have made a difference with his quickness and playmaking ability.

Ahhh well.......fun reprieve from an awful summer of watching Orioles baseball lol.

:cheers:Agreed - this could definitely catch on. It’s a cool forum to get to see old favorites play. And the Elam ending is brilliant. We need to get Freeman to play next year.

He was going to play this year but got hurt right before the tournament.

I think we would have made a run with Trey! Had all the other pieces. Hopefully next year!

RE: ODU - The Tournament 2018
Was there with my oldest son. Ross, Wright, and particularly Palmore (sans free throws) played well. Frank the Tank had his hands full. but worked hard and stuck to the plan to get his. Spencer was disappointing, and I have no doubt that Freeman would have made a greater impact (as would have James). Caver was in the stands. Nice to see different generations of Monarchs together.

Good effort, and our boys never backed down. And we were close. Surreal that VCU fans actually cheering for us in there own poor excuse for an arena.

Yea, nothing special about that VCU cheering stuff, right? They were simply praying that they didn't have to get knocked out of the TBT by OE again.

Doubtful. I’d rather watch the young prospects lose than watch a bunch of overpaid vets play gutless baseball and get killed by everyone.

Cleaning house and rebuilding is the only way to get ahead. Just look at what the Astros have done after three straight 100+ loss seasons.

Speaking about this year. It will get worse for us this year. The right move is to sell all of these bums.
