RE: Conference Realignment for D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and USCAA 2018 and Beyond
Tarleton State is closer to join D1 and the WAC conference. Some decisions could be made later this month.
Chowan rumored to leave Conference Carolinas.
PSU Schuylkill is applying to NAIA this year.
Middle Georgia State is rumored to turn their club football team to a varsity team.
Bentley and Southern New Hampshire have been on and off in talks with an eastern D1 conference to join from D2.
Wayne State, Michigan have been in talks with Horizon League in case Horizon loses Oakland. Both parties seemed to be interested with each other. Could land their football in MVFC with Youngstown State.
Murray State to MVC and MVFC in the cards in the future?
Chicago State's issues could forced them out of D1.
UMKC may have to move back to the Summit League.
Lamar, Sam Houston State and SFA have eyed FBS.
JacksonVille State and Eastern Kentucky wants FBS.
AAC have Dayton, VCU, UMass. Old Dominion and Southern Mississippi on their radar in case they get raided by the Big 12.
Gonzaga, Saint Mary's, BYU, New Mexico State, UTEP, Rice, and Grand Canyon all have been rumored to go MWC. Many news articles mentioned them for the past couple of years.
Saint Louis, VCU, Richmond, Gonzaga for Big East expansion talks.
Villanova, Georgetown, Navy and Saint John's all have been mentioned in a news article to go to the ACC along with Navy.
Texas to the ACC and football independent.
Oklahoma to the SEC talks.
Kansas to the Big 10.
Big 12 accepted applications from the AAC, MWC, Arkansas State, Rice, BYU and northern Illinois for their expansion from hell two years ago.

Only schools right now that could move this year are:
Tarleton State
Frostberg State
SALISH KOOTENAI College could join the nAIA next year and Frontier Conference.
Five Towns just started their sports.
University of Bahamas is applying to NAIA.
SUNY- Delhi applied to D3.

Cumberland and Georgetown, KY. still listed as possible D2 schools in the GMAC.

Other schools that mentioned they could go to D1.
Augusta A-SUN target
Bellarmine Horizon or OVC makes sense.
Bentley AEc or NEC
Colorado Mesa, they scream D1 when they made some major upgrades and added sports. Big Sky or WAC.
Minn. Duluth, Minn. State Mankato and St. Cloud State are on the list for the Summit League.
Southern New Hampshire same as Bentley and Merrimack.
Rowan wants D1. AEC
OKCU wants D1. Summit League
Texas A&M-Kingsville WAC or southland.
Wayne State, Michigan Horizon/MVFC.
West Texas A&M WAC
Angelo State WAC
Augustana, SD Summit/MVFC
Columbus State A-Sun
Indiana, PA. Big South
Southern Indiana seems to want D1. OVC
Texas A&M-Commerce Southland
UTPB WAC
Tuskegee hints to be SWAC
Valdosta State A-Sun/Big South
West Georgia A-Sun/Big South

Targets"
Alaska if both schools merged. WAC
Azusa Pacific WAC
Colorado Mesa Big Sky/WAC
Dallas Baptist WAC
Lindenwood Horizon
Minnesota State-Mankato Summit
Minn.-Duluth Summit
North georgia A-Sun
St. Cloud State Summit
Tampa A-Sun
UAH A-Sun
Wayne State Mich. Horizon
West Texas A&M WAC
Academy of Art U. San Francisco WAC
Angelo State Southland
Arkansas Tech Southland
Augustana, SD Summit
Central Oklahoma Southland
Central Washington Big Sky if Big Sky loses schools.
Colorado State-Pueblo WAC
Colorado-Colorado springs WAC
Columbus State A-Sun
Florida Tech A-Sun/Big South
Indiana Pa. Big south with Monmouth as full members.
Metro State WAC
Southern Indiana Horizon/OVC
Tampa A-Sun
Commerce Southland
UTPB WAC
Washburn Summit
West Florida A-Sun
West georgia A-sun./Big south
Western Washington WAC

News articles with some ideas of where conferences will be going at, but some are verbal news articles mentioned these schools are looking at to D1 or are in talks with D1 conferences. Most are in secret that we do not know right now.

Might I suggest reorganizing the initial post by division? It is a little difficult to read as currently constructed. Thank you for putting this together, though. Even though we aren't seeing the seismic shifts we saw in years past, it's always good to see the changes, especially from the "little guys"

Great idea. I like that you have the "factual" moves separated from the rumored moves. Here's some minor edits to make:

Under SCAC:
St. Thomas leaves 2019 - There are SOOOO many St. Thomas's this should be specified. They go by St. Thomas - Houston. They are listed as ST Thomas TX in the next post.

Davenport left the NAIA last year.
Southwestern Assembly of God University is known as SAGU, not SWAG

I haven't heard the Middle Georgia Football rumor, do you have a source? I have mentioned it before as something that would make sense, but I would hate to be cited as the source of the rumor.

Cumberland TN and Georgetown KY to D2 has been refuted many times. Do you have any recent evidence? Otherwise this should be removed.

I will agree this is a good idea, but. There are so many factual errors I don't have the time to list them including some that have been corrected on this board several times previously. What's being labeled as rumor is more like fantasy and will remain so until credible sources are linked.

Perhaps it would be best to not cite a rumor unless it's accompanied by a link referencing the source of the information. And the source couldn't be a message board.

I would agree to this as well. I might even put a time limit of the link as well. Something within the last 3 years or so.

Although it might make sense, that would be a massive investment. They are not very good now, I teach at a Juco school that defeated them 71-0. They would also need to be an affiliate with Mid-South Conference. When they were an NJCAA school, they did have a football team that was cancelled back in the late 90s or early 2000s.

Actually news sites and all that. My local paper in town did a write up about Arkansas Tech when UCA moved up. UCA wanted Arkansas Tech to move up with them, but our leader was so short sighted at the time. since we have new leadership, and have grown, it could be too late unless there are some major changes coming.

Augustana, SD's name came up again to moving to d1.

Augustana, SD gets Inqueries To join D1

It seems that they are getting feelers if they are interested into joining D1. I get my news source for the schools not from forums, but from news sites.

West Georgia have on their website about their football stadium and D1 being mentioned.

Show the link about ATU and the Southland story that you have gushed about so many times. central arkansas accepted the invitation from that conference in 2005 and Arkansas Tech has done exactly nothing to position us for a possible D1 move in the now 13 years since. It might have been wishful thinking on their part at the time but we are absolutely NOT going D1. We have a new president since 2005 but our previous president was as far from short-sided as you can get. He was the leader in our enrollment explosion from 3,500 to 12,000 and if that hadn't happened no one (including DavidSt) would be talking this silly ATU-to-D1 talk and we really have not had an enrollment growth since he retired. In fact, we have actually slipped very slightly in total enrollment. Steve Mullins has been our AD for 15 years and was already the football coach for 6 prior to adding his AD duties so in athletics we have the same leadership.

The Augustana article from 10 months ago is just another typical write-up that comes when a school joins another conference. In this case it follows IUPUI leaving the Summit which will include 5 of Augustana's former conference mates from the old D2 North Central Conference. They have not been contacted by the Summit and the inquiries are likely just local media creating a story where there really is no story.

The West Georgia link is to a fund raising campaign site in 2009. And just like Arkansas Tech there was a random mention of D1 pretty much a decade or more ago and nothing has been said or done since. Yes it took North Alabama 5 years to finally get their invite but they never stopped pushing the idea, the topic was always being brought up in every form possible.

There is not enough substance in the Augustana article to suggest that they are being rumored for D1. Arkansas Tech and West Georgia also need to be removed from your list since the source(?) is from 13 and 9 years ago. Every school should be removed unless you can post a link to a credible source with overwhelming evidence that is less than 3 years old. The evidence would be something like the Tarleton State press release announcing the formation of a D1 task force or the North Alabama D1 page on their athletic site. If that linked source turns more than 3 years old either update it or remove the school from the list. It is completely ridiculous to still be talking about an ATU-to-D1 rumor (turned fantasy) 13 years after some random and only mention of the possibility.

I can add a little to the UWG rumor. I was at a cross country meet three years ago hosted by UWG where an athletic department official said that "if asked, they would go" meaning they would move up. With the Big South agreeing to take football teams and the A-Sun in the position that they are, it makes sense. Also, the former cross county coach at Mercer University left that position to take the job at UWG last year. Although there are many reasons why the UWG might be a better job than Mercer, it does seem a little odd that a coach would willingly step down when there was no pressure on him to do so.

No I agree that both of these elements are not concrete in any way. There is not link to an actual story either. Just two things that I have observed personally.

Already did. I have it listed as FBS, FCS, D1, schools not in D1 play D1 sports, D2, D3, NAIA and USCAA.
Ah, I see it now. Sorry about that, must have missed it while scrolling through the other day.

Good to see the St. Thomas (TX) Celts move up. I always thought they could be a good athletic school. They just need to expand their campus to accommodate their athletic program.

Perhaps it would be best to not cite a rumor unless it's accompanied by a link referencing the source of the information. And the source couldn't be a message board.

Does your local paper have a website link to the story about Arkansas Tech, DavidSt? Or can you take photographs of the article(s) with your phone, and put it on here as an attachment???

Local paper have a website, but it seems they do not archive their stories on the web. Don't have the paper now, nor have a phone to make a photo copy.
