Five new NAIA members:

http://www.victorysportsnetwork.com/Clip...ership.htm

"New members include: Oakland City University (Oakland City, Ind.), Park University Gilbert (Gilbert, Ariz.), Texas A&M University-San Antonio, University of North Texas at Dallas and Westcliff University (Irvine, Calif.)."

Also interesting,

"The NAIA Council of Presidents approved a second membership application cycle, allowing schools to apply for NAIA membership mid-summer and receive a decision as early as the beginning of October."

Yes. "Lined up" except where noted. But pretty firm from what I understand.

Oakland City = River States Conference*
TAMU-SA = Red River Conference
UNT Dallas = Sooner Athletic Conference
Park - Gilbert = California Pacific
Westcliff = California Pacific

I’m actually surprised they didn’t make this move a couple of years ago when the other Ohio schools quit the GLIAC.

Time for Notre Dame College to hop on board.

They have a much longer history with the GLIAC than most of the other Ohio schools. They joined from the GLVC in the mid-90's; most of the others (Findlay being the main exception) came over from the NAIA around 2010.

True. I really think the GLIAC thought they could make it work with a MI division and an Ohio division but the Ohio schools were all a lot smaller and poorer than the big MI state schools. Ashland wanted to stick around at the big kid table but the GMAC offered them the opportunity to save a lot on travel and be the big fish.

NAIA member Allen has applied for Division II membership: https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/committ...Report.pdf

If they get accepted, I expect them to join the SIAC, home of their across-the-street rival Benedict.

It's about time that report was posted. Since "An institution must also receive a bona fide invitation for membership from an active Division II conference before applying for Division II membership" they already know what conference they will join. I can't find any announcement of a conference invitation. It's unexpected that Allen has a sport you don't find at a HBCU, wrestling. Will the wrestling team affiliate with Carolinas.

Would the CIAA be interested? They're close to Claffin (albeit a non-football school) and a short drive for many of the North Carolina schools.

I love that the FAQ is written from the perspective of a hypothetical student or possibly a parent that is VERY MAD ONLINE about this decision.

also, they're apparently called the Koalas, I don't get it, but I'm all in anyway.
