Sooner Athletic Conference loses another football member.

They likely will end up closing but it's not a done deal yet. Sooner Athletic Conference football will be fine, they will still have 9 teams and I believe NAIA football plays a 10-game schedule.

Ottawa Univ.- AZ (OUAZ) begins it's inaugural football season this year in the SAC. (NAIA)

Also, OUAZ begins play in the GSAC (Golden State Athletic Conf.) (NAIA)

D2 should make an anoouncement soon for any new members today. So far we have Benedictine, UT-Tyler, Savannah State and Frostburg State applying this year. We may not have heard if there is others. Maybe Rowan since they mentioned that they want to go to D1, but they have to be in D2 for 8 years before they can apply to D1.

UT-Tyler Approved BY NCAA D2 to Begin Transition
UT-Tyler got accepted to join D2 for next year.

Savannah State also got accepted to begin their downgrading.

Benedictine Illinois also got accepted.

Looks like Frostburg State got denied for D2 transition. They were supposed to join the MEC next year.

Wentworth Military Academy Closed Down

Just found this one. Wentworth Military Academy and College shut down. They used to play athletic sports in the past since I saw them in the history books for college football and all that.

Missouri Military Academy is adding a 2 year JC in Mexico, Missouri.

Both academies is more of a boarding school from 7th to 12th grades, and have a 2 year JC programs.

My best friend from HS went to Wentworth his freshman year of college.

Keep an eye out for MEC conference may not be done in expanding.
UNC-Pembroke as an affiliate in football, swimming and wrestling.
Davis & Elkins olympics sports could be added to offset UNC-Pembroke's football.

Four day old RUMOR on the D2 board. Based on an unsourced tweet.

I think UNC-Pembroke already has a Notre Dame-like scheduling agreement with a D2 football conference.

Yes. They have a scheduling alliance with South Atlantic Conference, playing all 8 (9 in 2019) SAC football members. This 4-year deal is for the 2017-2020 seasons and UNCP is not eligible for any weekly or season awards. UNCP is the only D2 football independent and if they become a football affiliate of any conference it will most likely be the SAC now that the SAC has opened up to public schools. Another questionable part about the rumor is that Mountain East Conference does not currently sponsor wrestling; they have only 4 schools with the sport. Davis & Elkins College does not sponsor the sport either.
