So the Cal Pac down to 8 schools (and only 6 that play basketball) beginning in the 2025-26 season. What should their next move be to stabilize?
Lincoln, Bethesda, Stanton. Maybe West Coast Christian.

Not sure it was reported here but here's the context:
https://www.gpacsports.com/general/2023-...1011mi3rze
So the GPAC voted them out shortly after it became known that they are pursuing NCAA D2. So they need a home for 2024-25. And the Northstar needs members, even for a year. What happens if UJ's D2 attempt fails? Remain in the Northstar I guess?

I’d let Jamestown be an indy and collectively not schedule them. Jamestown bolting to the GPAC screwed the rest of the North Star schools and is at least a small part of what lead to the conferences downfall. There were bigger factors, but them leaving originally caused instability.
I certainly wouldn’t let them back in the conference to possibly win some of their autobids. The remaining NSAA schools would possibly have a waiver to remain a conference for the year Jamestown would be back anyway, so there is little to gain by letting them back in. Publics like Dickinson, Valley City, and Mayville are all in it together, but don’t really need to play nice with a private school that is planning to move to D2 anyway.
If Jamestown gets rejected from D2 and gives up, Jamestown would probably beg to play those schools again because they wouldn’t have much choice. They can’t go back to the GPAC. It would make sense to accept them back as permanent members then.
The remaining North Star schools don’t really have to worry about “offending” UJ as things stand, are the ones who are in the same situation being limited budget, small state schools in ND, are likely going to be sticking together thru whatever comes, and have no reason to work with UJ any longer. Jamestown has shown them no regard in any of its actions.

Marriage of convenience for both. Gets the North Star up to 6 members for 2024-25 and gives Jamestown a conference to compete in before they likely are accepted to join the NSIC. My guess would be North Star can try to bring in Bismarck St then the following season.

Looks like Beacon is there to.
It’s not that I don’t believe it, but I’m still deciding. John Melvin U is posting it on their twitter, but in the month since that post, there is nothing on the USCAA site and nothing about the USCAA on the schools athletic site. Perhaps they are an exploratory member. Or perhaps someone jumped the gun and they are an applicant? The link in their post about joining doesn’t take you to an article or announcement, but to a standard USCAA promotion video the organization itself made.
And I don’t see that JMU has even applied for any sort of accreditation yet, so I don’t think it’s even possible for them to actually be accepted into the USCAA. Probably an “exploratory” member, which means they aren’t actually a member, but upon meeting some actual criteria, may be sometime down the road.

Officially, they have an invitation. The invitation is pending their acceptance into the NCAA.

Nice to be back in a conference with them again since they were a SUNYAC school when I was at Brockport in the early 90's

Thanks for the sharing that. I think the Springfield newspaper does a very good job with their local coverage. And I wouldn’t have seen this without your link.
BTW, sorry I didn’t get post a Westmont upset in the other thread. But they were facing a pretty good team and put in a good effort.

UCSB? It wasn't as close as the final score showed, but I was pleased with the effort. Westmont scored the final 9 points to make it look respectable. But Westmont had the games top scorer and rebounder. Anthony McIntyre had I think 28 points, and the gauchos really couldn't stop him. And we played without leader Dayshone Henry. Not last night either. I haven't found out what happened to him.

That really stinks for all the Saint Rose students students and faculty.
Nichols and Utica are waiting in the wings to be brought in by the NE-10.

Utica needs a D1 hockey conference before they commit to the D2 move. So far the AHA isn't biting.

Could University of Albany buy them out? It could be a merger.

And why would Albany want to do that?
