RE: 2018-2019 Basketball Schedule
A good opponent is St. Bonaventure. They have many fired up alumni who have moved south. They love to go to road games and support their team. Local watering holes will benefit from the game, especially if it's a weekend game.

The return game in Olean, NY is brutal. It's near Buffalo, but about a 2 hour bus ride from that airport.

I googlemapped Olean and it's 32 and snowing.

ouch. Think they would have scheduled a cupcake here to get a W in their first game there.

The time to play a team like UNC is early in the season. That's when some of the blue bloods tend to lose those early season head scratchers. Could be a great opportunity there.

Elon is going from a gym that seats 1100 to a 5000 seat arena. They want a sellout. UNC-CH or Duke are the teams that can make that happen.

I look forward to Elon moving to a bigger gym. I went to Alumni once, and hated it. It is why I haven't attended in years since. Being in Raleigh, I should be able to get to the game regardless of the date this year.

We opened Trask with #16 Wake Forest. And the atmosphere was electric.

Indeed it was - not to mention the fact we should have won the game.

While i see your point, Wake doesn't have the following UNC does. I'd be worried about them opening their new GYM and their being more blue than maroon in the crowd.

That's where marketing comes in. They need to sell the hell out of some season tickets, with this first game in the fancy new arena being the headliner for why people should do so.

Hopefully they also have some way of controlling the ticketing a bit. It's not like this is a neutral site game, like the farce of a "home" game we played in Myrtle Beach against UNC.

I agree, but UNC has a habit of finding a way to infiltrate.

RE: 2018-2019 Basketball Schedule
Joe Lunardi's latest bracketology was released today and as of now we have 4 teams we are scheduled to matchup with next year in 5 games that he has in the big dance. 3 of those 5 will be played at Trask, if everything works out like we assume it will with Davidson and UNCG owing us a trip to Wilmington.

@UNC (projected 2 seed)
Davidson (projected 11 seed)
UNCG (projected 14 Seed)
Northeastern/@Northeastern (projected 13 seed)

Not to mention the Stanford opener in Wilmington. They lost in the 2nd round of the NIT last year. I know we've discussed the great schedule at length but thought this could put it in perspective a bit. CofC and W&M will bring in good teams as well. Season Tickets should sell well this year, I'd assume.

RE: 2018-2019 Basketball Schedule
Although it's better than the dII teams as far as attendance, a winning record will draw the fans. Stanford, Davidson and UNCG are all good teams, but they aren't rivals and won't have a lot of their own fans. Davidson with likely the biggest following in Wilmington. A quick upset of Stanford would do wonders for creating interest in the more casual fans who may then come to other games.

It will be a round robin format. So a great opportunity for us to prove to ourselves we can win 3 games in 3 days. Below is a link to the schedule for the tournament. Wings Up!

Odd that UNCA wouldn't be in this tourney as well.

While it's called The Battle in the Blue Ridge, I don't think UNCA has any ties to it. Sponsored by visitcurrituckobx.com

Yeah, i get it, but would still make sense to have a "home team" in. UNCA plays it's home game sin that arena doesn't it?
