I wonder if Rome had academic institutions where they offered access to poor athletic commoners if they played collegiate athletics.

It also might be a tad misguided to compare our current predicament to a society that murdered people in front of large crowds for sport.

...um...the gladiators were slaves...they didn't have much choice in the matter.

Let me correct that:

It also might be a tad misguided to compare our current predicament to a society that coerced people to murder other people in front of large crowds for sport.

Does this make you feel better?

How Bazeley's career pans out will be very interesting. He's got lottery talent but isn't a sure fire lottery pick on physical talent alone unlike guys like RJ Barrett. I'm really not sure yet if the G League will prove to be a better option for elite players. Brandon Jennings going oversees instead of college didn't spark a major exodus of top HS talent, the jury is still out on the G League however. Bazeley's situation will definitely be the first major litmus test.

College pays better and has more exposure

G-League players are being coached by NBA coaches. NBA scouts are watching them. This is the exposure that matters. They are in front of the decision makers every day.

That is the talking points...but I counter a kid like him would get exposure playing in front of huge crowds, build his brand on ESPN and CBS, develop his social skills on campus, learn a few things about traveling first class and learning from a HoF coach. He would also get better weight training than what the G league would offer.

In a small twist...I heard he is rethinking this G league thing...he might end up back in college and it might not be Cuse. Cincy is in play. Of course Cuse would have to release him...not sure that will happen as the kid totally f'd over the program.

His handlers in Cincy are idiots.
