I don't know how many MAC games, which ones, or whether CBSSN is still in the picture, but it looks like a lot of ESPN3 stuff is going on a subscription model.

Basically This:

If you’re one of those people who only have that 70-100 dollar cable bill to watch ESPN you just saved about 65-95$ a month.
If you’re one of those people who would have had the cable package anyway you just got an extra 5$ expense a month.

I'm in the latter group. However, this does make cutting the cord an idea to explore a little further.

I'd like to know if the schools get any of this money or does ESPN keep all of it.

I doubt schools will see any additional money.

It is selling rights via a different medium, streaming, rather than with the cable (for those who will be cutting the cable).

My guess is that they'll see some 'cord cutters' (and lose revenue there) but will pick up revenue from new customers, like me, who will pay twice, that which I receive through DirecTV and now the streaming service.

I'd welcome it if I thought it solved all the patchwork "a la carte" shuffling I've had to do to watch an EMU game lately. All you need is:

ESPN 3
CBS Sports Network for three weeknight football games
BTN for the Rutgers game
Whatever wonky internet service they're using for Basketball road games
Collegeinsider.com
