This.....All these fans that are happy with Wilders performance on recruiting are clueless. This is what happens when you consistently finish in the bottom half of recruiting. We need to see consistently more 3* recruits being secured. For the most part *s do matter.

But we did have at least 7 players earn paychecks during the NFL regular season.

Understand what the NFL is. It's a group of about 1700 players on the rosters. 1000 of them are solid NFL talents. The remaining 700 can be interchanged with another 2000 guys that are not playing in the NFL and nobody would notice. It's a crap shoot.

RE: NFL Draft Thread
From what I heard the coaches are selling rick lovato super bowl story to recruits.

I am a little surprised we haven't been able to produce a drafted player in 9 seasons of football when other upstarts, lower fbs schools, and fcs schools have.

Over the last 6 years, these teams have had players drafted.

Eastern Michigan 2
Liberty 1
GA ST has had 3
GA Southern 5
South Alabama 1
Charlotte 1
Coastal Carolina 4
App State 5
UMASS 3
Texas St 2
UTEP 2
UTSA 2
Richmond 2
Bill & Mary 3
Virginia State 1

Yikes. Do the math on wins and losses from the 2017 season on that list.

Both. Not either or. Both are important. Wins during the season and draft picks during recruitment.

And we need more to sell than a long snapper's success.

But I'm not blaming Wilder until we get a stadium. And I really think we will have a DE in that draft in 2019. But a year ago I was expecting our explosive RB to hit the board this time around.

Let's face it, Lawry has a poor durability record. How many games has he missed because of injuries (which were mainly non-contact hamstring injuries)?
I'm thinking he missed nearly an entire season over the course of 4 years, or at least that's what it feels like.

The same reason Lawry came to ODU is the reason he wasnt drafted. His “production” defies his “talent.” If hes given a legitimate shot in camp, he may surprise people.

If you are referring to OX, he may be drafted, but he's a little undersized for an NFL DE. I could see him as a linebacker though.

Off the top of my head he's the only prospect who comes to mind.

I think right now OX is on the bubble for being drafted next year. I think he has the talent to get there. Right now, NFLdraftscout has him as the No. 17 DE in their next year's draft rankings. What he does this year will make or break him -- draft wise.

DuHart. Wonder if Clarke can make a leap. And Ward has a lot of measureables team look at if he can bulk up.

Hence the problem...most all out players have to make a huge leap in development. DuHart has not chance in being drafted. The only player9s) right now that has a remote chance is Ward and perhaps OX. That says something.

Only 10 out of CUSA got drafted this year. So, 2 potential draftees in a single season seems to be fairly standard.

Yeah, that goes for every CUSA player. It's not like the guys getting drafted were 4 star recruits.
