I doubt the 2 things are related. Matt Rhule, the former Temple head coach when Satterfield was at Temple, is now at Baylor. I assume that is why he is going there.

I'm betting they are related. Baylor is the home of lawlessness. This is really bad news.

During Spring practice and the season ticket selling push. Never a good time for something like this, but this certainly isn't good timing.

The player in question, according to two people close to the program, is Tyree Robison, a sophomore defensive back from Gainesville, Georgia. Sanders allegedly hit Robinson in the helmet during Friday’s practice when the player failed to take a knee during a drill.

Sanders was allowed to coach the team’s second scrimmage on Saturday and seemed generally upbeat about the performance.

I will give Sanders the benefit of the doubt until the investigation is over. Maybe he punched a kid in the head? Maybe he tapped the kid on the helmet, and the player was upset about it, maybe another player reported it and is mad at the new coaching hire? We will see I guess, but an awful thing to have happen.

I guess I just don't understand what is wrong with hitting a player in the helmet at practice that warrants a suspension.

Ask any lawyer.

I hesitate to comment too much without knowing the specifics. But the vision I have in my head is a coach slapping a player on the back or side of his helmet for not kneeling down. If that type of action gets a coach suspended, we just need to shut the program down again.

Having said that, maybe it was much more forceful than I am thinking (though it would need to be much more to warrant a suspension)- there should be plenty of witnesses to determine pretty quickly what happened. If the administration thinks its a big deal, go ahead and fire him quickly so we can move on. If it is something that isn't a big deal, reinstate him and lets play football again.

i think most of us could tell he is being facetious.

I’ll just say this better involve more than a simple slap to a player’s helmet to put a cloud over Sanders’ head so early in his tenure. This is football, not debate club.

Must be more to this, or it would have been handled “internally”. But, as reported thus far, slapping a player on the helmet to get his attention or discipline him is an issue? If it was this serious, is there a police report on file that the university must address? Player now has a concussion from a medical exam? What forms of college coaching discipline are in and what forms are out in today’s snowflake/cupcake/victim era anyway?

Every practice is recorded, so there’s footage. We will see what comes of it.
