Sanchez to UNCC "waited a long time for right fit and leadership"
Ron Sanchez Named UNCC Men's Basketball Coach

UNC Charlotte has hired Ron Sanchez as the new men’s basketball coach, the athletic department announced Monday.

Sanchez comes from the University of Virginia, where he was the associate head coach. During his time there, the Cavaliers won 212 games, three ACC regular season titles and two ACC tournament titles. This season, Virginia won a school-record 31 games before being the first No. 1 seed team in the national tournament to lose to a No. 16 seed when the school lost to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County last week.

Sanchez will replace interim coach Houston Fancher, who coached the 49ers through a 15-game losing streak that amounted to a 6-23 season record. Fancher came on midseason when former coach Mark Price was fired.

UNCC Athletic Director Mike Hill said in a statement that he’s optimistic about what the new hire will mean for the 49ers.

“Ron Sanchez embodies everything we could possibly want in a head basketball coach,” Hill said. “His reputation is impeccable as a teacher, leader, assessor and developer of talent, and recruiter. Most importantly, he is a man of high character and integrity. This is a great day for the Charlotte 49ers.”

Hill said in a statement that he’s excited to be a part of the 49ers family.

“I have waited a long time for the right fit and I truly believe in the leadership of this department,” Hill said. “I cannot be more excited to get started.”

Several mis-quotes in the article.

Talk to me when Sanchez turns UNCC into a legit basketball program. Right now UNCC is among the CUSAs worst in football and basketball. Why are you posting about a new head coach that has proven nothing along with an AD that has done zilch too?

DM2 believes Sanchez is using the occasion of his UNC Charlotte hire to take a veiled swipe at JMU!

Everything looks like a nail when you are holding a hammer.

Nothing new. This should be OT, just like the App State AD. They have NOTHING to do with JMU. I'm tired of the passive-aggressive BS.

I don't know what was said about the App State AD and I don't know much about Sanchez besides he can expect a salary larger than JMU will pay an athletic coach.

How is a discussion about either Appy State or UNCC worthy of a "NOTHING" to do with JMU passive aggressive comment?

They are both peers, one was probably a former best football rivalry JMU will ever have and the other just hired a coach JMU coveted and may have offered a two years ago.

Has questioning the JMU athletic department in anyway become a message board foul?

Just asking, not worth internet fighting07-coffee3

There's nothing wrong with questioning things, especially when there is a question involved. When the question is posting an article, that is not a question.
When the article is not about JMU, but there's a bolded quote that could be interpreted by someone as a jab at JMU, that is not a JMU article. When a post is created about App State giving their AD an extension, that is not a JMU article.
Maybe it's me, but I'd rather read about JMU stuff.. being a JMU FAN.
I get it.. don't read a post by the 'person' involved. That doesn't solve the problem. Ignoring it doesn't mean it still isn't there.
Want to have a discussion about something, even if its been talked about ad nauseam in a hundred other threads? Then ask the damn question.

Fair enough...just asking.

There are posters that attack the admin 99% and posters that defend the admin 99%. Must posters fit somewhere in between.
