What's more surprising: Jacob to the Lakers; or the complete hack job in EACH sentence by the writer?

Jacob to the Lakers @ 25

25. Los Angeles Lakers (via Cavaliers): Jacob Evans, SF, Cincinnati

The Lakers have big plans this offseason should determine where they go with this pick. Like the rest of the Cincinnati squad, Evans can played defensive. He can also shoot from the outside, shooting nearly 38 percent from three for his career.

Lot of recent grades have Jacob in the 20s. (I believe ESPN and CBS were the others I've seen this week). Looking good for him.

RE: Evans...
The NBA combine (going on right now) medical and athletic testing will go a long way towards where Evans ultimately ends up.

ESPN Mock 5/15/18 - Jonathan Givony (Best in business IMHO last decade)
#22 - Chicago Bulls - Shooting, depth and defense from the wing spot!

ESPN Insider Subscription

CBS Mock 5/15/18 - Gary Parrish
#27 - Boston Celtics - "do-everything wing who guards multiple positions, plays tough and consistently makes outside jumpers...not hard to imagine him flourishing under Brad Stevens"

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nba-m...aft-order/

SI 5/16/18 - Jeremy Woo
#23 - Indiana Pacers
"Pacers should have most of their key pieces returning next season and can add an element of toughness on the wing here with Evans."

Actually neither is surprising at all...

RE: Evans...
Looking good so far for Evans...

6.50% Body fat 6' 5.5'' Height 199.6 Weight 6' 9.25' Wingspan (huge + for the NBA analytical type teams!)

Top 5 in comparable size for SG/SFs last 15 NBA drafts in Excel database are.

Devin Booker 2015 - Pick #13
Tim Hardaway Jr. 2013 - Pick #24
Alec Burks 2011 - Pick #12
Wayne Ellington 2009 - Pick #28
Brandon Roy 2006 - Pick #6 (I recall reading scouts from Pacers were watching a Bearcat game earlier this year...who coached Roy back then?...as a player led the NBA in steals and hustle minutes off the bench as wing player 03-idea)

RE: Evans...
Judging by the recent articles it appears Evans made the right decision. He's talented but not uber-talented where he could be a top 10 pick. Assuming he's picked in the 20's he's far better off getting picked in the 20's this year (where mostly good franchises draft) than if he had a great year next year and moved up into the teens and give up an entire year of earnings to do it. Especially considering you take a ton of risk that you don't get drafted as high the next year.

I see a ton of Jimmy in him, just needs to get more assertive on offense...the shooting and perimeter defense is already there.

Weird. CBS had him 22-25 it seemed and then talked about how he helped himself in the combine, but then drop him out of the 1st round.

I think he is locked in the 1st round honestly. Too many positive reviews from it seems every scout and he is a perfect fit in the NBA. I wouldn't be overly shocked if he went in the top 20, though I think top 25 for sure.

That was Gary Parrish at CBS mock draft...the NBA.com site lists a consensus of the more well regarded / connected NBA people and their respective Mock Drafts. Taking these top 7 Mock drafts average position is 26-27 range. I have seen a range with details from Scouts showing as high as #18 Spurs - #28 Golden State...VERY few people have him outside of the top 45. Interviews and fit will be key in his visits and in a couple weeks will have a better guess of his floor draft spot.

RE: Evans...
I firmly believe Evans is going to have a long NBA career. I think his ceiling might be higher than people think. His shot isn't this level, but I could absolutely see him playing a Klay Thompson type role on a team. He's the best perimeter defender I ever saw at UC when you include his helpside defense. He's good really good ball skills and NBA size. You won't need to run offense through him or for him and he should still be effective.

Did he only play one day at the combine? I saw one day, and then he was out with a finger issue.
