As far as I know, the City of Norfolk is contributing zilch to our stadium project. Where is Mayor Alexander and the rest of the Norfolk City Council? There is economic benefit to the City so even a little financial assistance with the infrastructure cost would be a big help.

Like I and many others have said MANY times .....Norfolk could careless about ODU. There is virtually no support to ODU other than perhaps police patrolling and maybe a few infrastructure related improvements. They do nothing from a financial or zoning or beautification perspective.

It was Norfolk's over zealous support for ODU's expansion that prompted the vote to change VA law on Eminent domain. The city also worked with ODU to get the innovation center downtown.

The city can't just babysit ODU. It has other more pressing issues to deal with. In the mean time, the private sector has slowly been improving the surrounding area.

This.

Mayor Alexander is an ODU alum and supports ODU Athletics. I'm sure he'd like to help out but he manages a city with limited resources. The city is always focusing its efforts on improving the quality of life here so maybe he'll lend a helping hand in the future. But right now, the stadium probably isn't on the short list of priorities.

I swear, this whole stadium thing has become one big cryfest.
