Houstonian Austin Claunch just became the youngest D1 coach in the country.

D3 player like Rhoades, but a much better player and much better early career trajectory. Houston roots and AAU/recruiting connections like Josh Pastner.

The conventional wisdom is Nicholls lost a lot. As soon as Austin shows he can build, we should hire him. There won't be any VCU to call him home. If we get him, we can only lose him to a power school, and that will only happen if we get to the tournament.

I think there is a much bigger athletic hire that is looming; yes, I am talking about the assistant marketing director for athletics.

The issue is the former doesn't happen at Rice. Rice doesn't fire coaches for being bad.. they have to be THE WORST before they get canned.
