Really interested to see who Darrell...
hires as assistants. Also will be interesting to see what current players stay around. He certainly did not go out of his way to ingratiate himself with the current players at the press conference. I think we have "good" kids, and I believe some of them are quite talented. However, they did go 7-25 this season. It's possible Darrell intends to bring in a number of "his" players for the coming season, although it seems pretty late in the recruiting cycle to get a ton of talent at this point in time. Personally, I think there are obviously players we need to keep, but maybe Darrell can still add a few pieces like Beard did after he was hired.

Kinda like the old saying: the good news is, everyone’s coming back. The bad news is, everyone’s coming back.

I’ll be surprised if he keeps more than one from the staff and if he doesn’t find somewhere else to play for several of the players. He’s got to have his players and who he wants on his staff. The last thing I want is another bad season and then have it blamed on previous staff and players. It’s Darrells team now, he needs to own 100% of it and I think he will.

Not sure where you get players at this time. But, Beard was able to find some and I remember Newell doing the same. I think we have some really good young players (Cocoran, Lottie, Bankston) I'd hope we keep. But, Darrell is surely a better judge of talent than I am. I think keeping someone from our staff would be good. I really like Quanza, but keeping an ex-player like Solo would be fine as well.

Back in the bad days of AState football, one year a national magazine's preview of AState said, "The bad news for the Indians is they lose 8 starters on defense. The good news for the Indians is they lose 8 starters on one of the worst defenses in the country."
