I just wish Jr would keep the political stuff to himself. I know for a fact that if he did I would be willing to donate more to the school. So say what you want but there’s at least one alumni that thinks about spending money elsewhere simply because of him.

This is the first real example. You personally decided to without monetary support to LU based on JFJ’s opinions. That directly hurts LU. All the other examples are opinion and can be shown to have no real damage to LU.
And here is a second fan who terminated his support. And I am a fan, and not an alumni of the school. I was a long time member of the Flames Club going back to the Ken Karcher times for probably 8 years straight. When I resided in Lynchburg, I went to FB, basketball (men & women), hockey and baseball games. But with Jr's actions I decided to terminate my annual contribution. It's also why I resigned as a Mod on this board as Jr's political and social stands were to much for me to defend.

He's pushing the limit and it's only a matter a time before schools start boycotting us. Yes it has happened, look up Appalachian State in 2001.

We can be a conservative christian school without the politics. Look at Cal Baptist, Grand Canyon, Oral Roberts, Charleston Southern, BYU, Wheaton, etc. BTW Charleston Southern president is a Liberty alumni, former military chaplain. Would be a really good replacement.
Right on target. Good to see independent thinkers among the LU fans. One can still be a fan and criticize the school and it's leaders.

Have a row of vendors outside the stadium that sells smoked meats, various BBQ and side items. Stick a small stage and a few live bands and it’d be one heck of a pregame party!

I actually like this idea. What if they made it a pay to get in pregame tailgate party? Could do something like 10 per person and they get a meat and 2 sides.

Interesting concept. First Pregame should have the Jonas Brothers. Watch a plethora of students get in and go to the game! ?

RE: If you were in charge?
I've been waiting to see if any LU fan was going to discuss JFJr news reported fiasco. There are many threads on others sites but there have been no mentions here. They've been multiple articles from different sources with reports of questionable financial dealings, family power grabs, family rivalares, and charges of photos being photoshoped that appear to be real. These are cause for concern. Does one turn a blind eye, stick their head in the sand and stuff it and deny they are happening? If so, how can this site on this board have any credibility? I've stated several times I resigned as a LU mod because of JFJr past actions. But if these latest allegations of financial misdeeds, deciet and falsehoods are true, JFJr has done immeasurable harm to the school, and especially the athletic programs.

Here is already a discussion on it by the A-Sun portion of the board. I don't know why we must bring up and discuss every negative article posted about Liberty though. What gives this article more credibility than any other? Why can't also talk about the good articles? What is the fascination with seeing LU be criticized?

How about this article?

It's not a fascination when a school Prez is reported to be involved in inappropriate actions. If the claims are untrue it's a passing story. If the claims are true, then a level of scrunity is warranted.

Regarding a mention on the A Sun board, is that a true representation or a cursory and lame mention? Another board, with almost zero activity, being the release valve to discuss unfavorable information. No.

Lastly, I'm the proponent who asked the Board Mod to start a LU site in 2013. I've received criticisms because I bring a different perspective than most LU fans. One particular LU supporter (check my rating) has taken it upon himself to leave negative ratings when I state any critique of LU or Jr. In all my online battles, in years defending LU on this board, in heated exchanges supporting LU's desire to become a Sunbelt member, none ever gave a negative rep. But my request to the LU Mod to warn and remove the neg ratings from the over zealous LU fan were denied, and I expect this to continue with past non actions allowing this harassment to continue.

The irony here is my long time history as a LU fan, since the late 1970s, and supporter, both in attendance and financial, is how touchy and thin skinned some LU fans are.

An open dialogue is better than attempting to sweep unfavorable news under the rug. Open conversation gives those participating a reflection of how their views compare with others. Suppressing info is being fear based and weak.

Nobody is censoring you. You are free to post negative articles about LU if you want but don't be surprised when you aren't popular and nobody likes you.

Why would any Liberty fan go searching the internet for bad news just so we can post it here and discuss? Nobody is sweeping anything under a rug. There are literally about 6 of us that post regularly so we don't have much traffic here anyways. Our conference's board brought it up and you call that lame? Someone else posted the negative article here under the conference realignment thread. Did you ignore that too?

So keep posting, keep bashing Liberty. It's easy to see your agenda. If you look around, most of us here aren't blindly supporting everything LU does. You won't be censored unless you break a sitewide rule.

I appreciate NewTimes posts as a follower of LU athletics. He’s made it clear that he did not have direct ties to the school and has followed the school since previously living in Lynchburg.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it's great for such a large donation and we are very blessed and lucky. On the other hand, it seems pretty pathetic (underwhelming is probably a better description) that our biggest capital donation supported tennis.

I get what you’re saying but I disagree. If I were loaded and going to donate a large sum to the school it would be for the business school. Everyone has what the care about do we have any alumni high in the tennis world?

I concur. When I first heard about this, I thought Liberty had just chosen to use donations to build the facility, but the fact that someone gave money specifically for this project is pretty incredible, both for the school & our tennis players.

Happy for them, & I hope they turn this into a great opportunity for recruiting!
