And if the next transfer is Norton, there must have been some weird stuff happen in that locker room.
The worst part of this is we just lost about 70% of our three point shooting if you include Lee.
Maybe I'm wrong, but none of the current recruits strike me as three point specialists. We may actually be dead last in the three point shooting categories next season, and we were already near the bottom.

Yeah we lose 2 big 3 pt shooting candidates, but what percentage did they shoot? They were both streaky to say the least and they did nothing for us on defense.
Nick Norton hasn't improved since his freshman year, whether that is coaching, injury or lack of skill at this level I do not know. The biggest game this program has won in a decade (Iowa State) Norton was on the pine the entire game in favor of Denzel Watts....

RE: Nate Darling to Transfer
I think HCRE is doing the right thing. He realizes the product on the floor is really bad, damn near unwatchable at times, and he had better do something about it and do it quickly before he becomes a career assistant.
This roster looks to be undergoing a major overhaul which was/is needed. I love the new freshman class, but it is unrealistic to expect them to be great right out of the gate. That is why a big time Robert Brown like transfer is needed. Robert Brown carried a team of freshmen to a conference tournament championship and won an NCAA game. I suspect that is the recipe we are trying to cook up again. Blaze on!

Darling shot 40%, which isn't streaky at all. In conference play, he shot 46%. His loss will hurt. He's an excellent third scoring option, and he could pull defenders away and clear space for Bryant.
Norton had a career worst shooting year, but was still our second best three-point shooter, which tells you everything you need to know about our shooting last year. Losing Norton isn't as big as Darling, but other than Norton, I don't see a point guard on the roster capable of running a team. Bryant had some highlight reel plays last year, but he struggled when he was the point guard.

I’d like to see someone confirm that NN is leaving before we start bashing him and act happy that he’s gone

Thing with adding a grad transfer PG is it gives us 7 months to recruit and sign a quality PG in November. Also, you’re just upgrading the pg spot for this year as well if we’re going based off of who we are showing interest in from coast to coast to those in our own backyard.

Well count me as shocked that Darling is transferring out. The minutes he got to play last season were amazing. I always considered him to be Eshan’s favorite player.

Yeah, he seemed set up for two more years of big minutes. Be interesting to know what is his beef with UAB. Maybe in his post season meeting he was told he probably wouldn't start next year. If he's behind a freshman then likely not the next year either.
Happens all the time, in every sport. Guy doesn't like what his coach thinks his future role will be and he (or she) makes a move.
Pretty good player but ultimately very replaceable IMO.
Bryant not so much so if we keep him and build on this incoming class, I think we have a chance to come out better.

2010-11 - Tony Criswell
2011-12 - Ovie Soko, Herb Harrison
2012-13 - Isiah Jones, Quincy Taylor
2013-14 - Thadeus Rideau, Chad Frazier* (don't know if he transferred or went overseas)
2014-15 - Jarvis Calhoun
2015-16 - none (see, hiring Ehsan did keep players from transferring)
2016-17 - Javien Williams
2017-18 - Thomas Smallwood, Deione Lavender, Nate Darling
Like I said, nature of the game
14/15 Denzel Collins
I didn't think to count him because he was a senior at UAB
Who played an extra year at Rogers State after UAB.

RE: Nate Darling to Transfer
I hope everything works out for Nate and he can finish his last two years strong. Same for Smalls, Lavender, and anyone else who transfers. You get one go round at a career so sometimes you have to do what you think is right for you and make a change.
Ultimately college athletics is a business and that means sometimes programs and players have to make tough choices.

RE: Nate Darling to Transfer
With the rumors on Nick....could this be a shift in offensive style that Nick and Darling don't fit as well? Scootie is so fast on the dribble are we going full uptempo and away from the half court. Makes sense with the long athletic run the court guys we are getting. That style doesn't fit Norton or Darling well.
