RE: Temple - Fran Dunphy...Breaking News
My first thought was Ollie 2.0.

But that may not be a bad thing for Temple, especially if he wins the Owls a Natty in year 2 (with Dunphy's players of course).

My thoughts as well. It is safe and less expensive. I don't see Aaron as a dynamic guy, but I hope I am wrong and he succeeds beyond Chaney level of success.

Looks like Penny started a trend. 03-wink

I think the coach in waiting concept has merit.

Lynn Greer and Bruiser Flint are the two names being talked about the most for assistant coaches and or director of basketball operations. Chris Clark, who is currently an assistant, is also rumored to stay on.

The other question is will the current staff take a hike immediately or stay on for Dunphy's final year?

This is information from the Scout board by posters who are known to have good information.

It's all speculation right now, no one has any inside info on this yet. The only piece with any credibility is that Clarke is probably staying due to his relationship with Aaron. Hard to assume Bru packs up and leaves Bloomington. Not to say it won't happen, but no one knows yet. This whole thing hasn't even been announced.

This season when we were speculating about Fran's possible replacement, I was back and forth on Aaron, but I'm totally on board now. Feels 100% like the right move. His credentials and connections have been discussed here already. I'm really hoping he turns this back into a Philly team. I love a lot of the guys that have come through recently, and I am glad we recruit mostly kids from the Northeast still, but Temple is the Philadelphia institution, and I want to be represented by Philly and Philly area kids.

I think the biggest mystery is his personality as a coach. He's known as a calm guy, but that's the last thing Temple wants right now in a coaching style. I've always said Temple hoops needs a bit of insanity. Maybe he'll storm Jay Wright's press conference after our game next season and threaten to kick his ass.

Fran out after 2018-19 season and Aaron Mckie taking over.

Don't understand the waiting a year at all. Just delays Mckie bringing in his own staff and implementing his own schemes.

Sounds like compromise to me...
