It's always interesting to hear others opinions of your team. However, I couldn't have a more different opinion. I don't know when I've looked at our receiving corps with more optimism. With the returning players along with the 2 transfers, We seem to have playmakers that can win the one-on-one plays, move the chains with difficult 3rd down catches and take the top off the opposing defense. Now, how we'll gel as a unit is always difficult to predict, but for pure talent I feel really good heading into Fall camp.

This Troy / APP game is going to be a thriller. Can't wait.

Really like where this rivalry is going. Both have similar question marks at QB and along the OL. How each progress could be the difference in a win or loss at the end of the season. Both fan bases for the majority seem to have mutual respect for each other as each program will battle for the East over the next several years. I'm already looking forward to November 24th. Really hope it's set up where winner gets to host the Championship.

RE: APP STATE adds KSU Grad Transfer
People may have forgotten the two games Troy and App played while in 1-AA, both were tightly contested. Still rememer our 6’4” QB trucking their LB into the endzone. That QB would have been awesome if he wasn’t at Klondike smoking and drinking every Thursday...

We'll have to see. We have a run of 9 games where 8 of them have coaches we haven't seen before:

Florida A&M (Haven't played them in D1 or FBS)
Nebraska (new coach, Scott Frost)
ULM (first time playing them under Viator)
Coastal (Mogila takes over, Chadwell was coach last year)
Georgia State (one we have faced before, last season)
Liberty (haven't played them in FBS, Turner Gill is head coach)
South Alabama (new coach, Steve Campbell)
Louisiana (new coach, Billy Napier)
Georgia Southern (new coach, Chad Lunsford)

In hindsight, we have played Lunsford, but his squad could look radically different, more fired up, and ready to beat our ass in Statesboro in a return to form. We struggle with option and dual thread QBs, and a lot more teams are doing that this year. Despite talent levels at Troy, it could be a real rebuilding year.

What makes this such a good rivalry is our schools have so much in common.

This should be another great game and atmosphere. Hopefully, with hosting the SBC Championship Game on the line.

Defense for Troy with Vic Koenning is like Death and Taxes. It should again be Top 15 in the country. Offense is talented and experienced individually, but will need time to gel with a new QB. Hopefully by the time we play you guys in game 12 we'll have it figured out.

It might be 70 degrees. I've been to App games in November that required cold weather gear and others that require shorts and short sleeves. I'm fairly certain the cold weather folks on here give the impression Boone is basically being buried under a glacier. You'd think it snows 2 feet per day from October to May.

Late November average highs are in the 40s. Lows in the 20s. About 15-20 degrees colder than Troy. We have never lost a Sun Belt game under 50 degrees (Arkansas State in 2015 was 55 degrees). Also it seems like our fans become more raucous later in the season. While attendance can sometimes drop off a little, the ones who do come and stay are much louder. Our last home game of the year is often one of our most decisive victories. Ask Louisiana in 2015 and 2017 and ULM in 2016. Also I love this stat:

Average Yearly Snowfall:

1. Boone 28.42 in
2. Jonesboro 3.26
3. Atlanta 1.00
4. Conway 1.00
5. Monroe 0.94
6. San Marcos 0.48
7. Troy 0.12
8. Statesboro 0.05
9. Lafayette 0.04
10. Mobile 0.02

Embrace the cold.

That said, Troy's defense against our offense scares me to death. I'm glad Zac Thomas won't have to face his home state team until he has a whole year's worth of game experience under his belt.

FFS. I will just about guarantee you haven't been to multiple November games in the 70s. Lay off the Everclear during tailgate.

I think you’re getting Boone and Greenville mixed up.

Sorry, Eigen. Just thought about this post and our WRs performance so far.

2 games. 472 yards and 5 TDs.

Corey Sutton alone has 242 yards in 2 games.

Helps to have a QB that can make all the throws versus Lamb who had some limitations, but still.

Let's just say no one is missing Ike Lewis.

No she's the queen of bringing up my old takes. Maybe that's where I learned it. Let's just say I had that post bookmarked in my head when I saw it made. The WRs were the position group I had the highest hopes for going into 2018.

Honest Question: How many of your wide receivers that played their final seasons in 2014 or later have at least made it to NFL camps?

NOt trying to be a smart-***, just want to know for sure because I doubt it's anything like the stretch where Dexter Jackson, Brian Quick, Tony Washington, and Andrew Peacock all either made it to camps or on NFL rosters.

As of now per ESPN you have the same number of receivers on NFL rosters as we do: 1.

I'm not trying to knock App State as a team...as long as you keep getting backs like Marcus Cox and Jalen Moore and as long as Satterfield is developing and coaching your QBs you'll be more than fine, but sorry, the App receivers corps are just not as scary as they used to be.
In my best Yoda voice... They will be, they will be.

Stand by what I said. I'm not saying they aren't good receivers, just that they haven't measured up to a lot of the receiver groups App had 2008-2013. Having a good QB really helps, too...

BTW, Phil Steele rated your receiver unit 6th in the conference and Athlon 5th. It's not just me.
