Troy and Georgia State tied at 3 in the third.

Game suspended due to weather. Will pick up tomorrow.

AState comes back from 3 down in the 9th to tie it, beats the Cajuns in 12 innings 8-7. Cajuns sort of imploded in the 12th. Walk, E4, Walk, Hit by Pitch game over.

Honestly?

They aren't just struggling, they just are not a very good baseball team. The offense is putrid bad. Bottom 3 hitters in their lineup are all below .180 and you can tell Robicheaux has absolutely zero faith any of them can make contact given the amount he drops down sac bunts.

Their starting pitching is pretty good, and their defense is probably tops in the league, and that will win them some games, but any team that has an offense with a pulse is going to give them all sorts of trouble this year, simply because even a 4 or 5 run game could end in a loss given their offense.

At best, they finish .500 in league, and that's really based primarily on how bad the Western Division is.

As much as I hate to agree with you; that's pretty much spot on! Very disappointing season unfolding. Just not good baseball going on in Lafayette this year! 03-puke

Ugh. So they are going to go balls to the wall in the tourney since that it their only hope of getting in the Tourney.

Chiefsfan is right— the Cajuns are just not a strong team. I saw all 3games they played in Statesboro 2 weeks ago and they— much like us — are poor offensively. At best I see the Cajuns probably 6th in the league— about the same place as us (GaSouthern). We need opponent s help via walks/errors to beat good teams. I see the Cajuns as in the same boat as us

The scary thing is, they could still end up with an okay seed simply because the West is really bad. Outside of a May series against you guys, they have a decent looking schedule the rest of the way. GSU and App as the East opponents, and TXST, UTA, LR, and ULM in the West.

Over the course of a double elimination tournament, this is not a team I would expect to be a major Championship threat, but they are the type team that you would hate to face early on, because they have a pitching staff that can shut teams down in a single game situation.

I just want us to qualify for the darn conference tournament. After all, it is a short drive for our fans....................... 03-drunk

Rest assured, the Sun Belt will find a way to get you in. I don't think the conference office wants to think about what a conference tourney in Lafayette would look like without the Cajuns.

Plus, you only have to beat out two teams to get there. App is already 0-6 and not looking likely to get better, so you may only have to beat out one of AState/ULM/GSU to get in.

I visited Georgia Southern's campus today to give the Chanticleers some extra baseball mojo as I traveled through eastern Georgia and hit up Statesboro after leaving Savannah! I drove by Hanner Fieldhouse, walked around inside the Engineering Building, and parked near Russell Union. I was most impressed with the student union: The place has its own movie theater (a lecture class was in progress inside it when I peeked in), Chick-Fil-A (where I had lunch) and a nice convenience store. There was some type of fresh fruit expo scheduled when I was there but I never found anything. Anyways, GO CHANTS! Let's keep the hits coming tomorrow against the Eagles and save some for Clemson on Tuesday when I'll be in attendance!

Bobcats drop game 2, and the series to LR. . . .

. . nice little funk we're in, dropping 7 of our last 8.

AState takes game 2 and the series over the Cajuns with a 14-2 win behind a complete game from Nate Alberius. Cajuns were worse tonight than they were last night if possible. 9 walks, 3 errors, and generally sloppy play all around.

Will be difficult tomorrow, but it's for a sweep. Cajuns starter tomorrow is very good.

GS wins game 3. Coastal won't lose too many more conference games.

The Jags clinched the series against App with a win earlier today and lead 5-0 after 3 in the second game today.

AState lost its starter in the 2nd inning due to an injury concern and couldn't solve the riddle that is Colton Schmidt. Schmidt throws a complete game as the Cajuns salvage a game in the series with a 6-1 win.

Both teams now 3-6 in league play.
