Well I am really looking forward to being wrong. I hope this young man is a solid contributor. I just image the learning and competition curve will be too great.

RE: 2018-19 Basketball Seasons
What is everyone’s perception since the move to the ASUN? Any changes in the schedule that were proposed above? In an interview with Matt Warner(I believe that’s his name), Coach did say that the offense has been quite week, so I’m sure that is the main focus during the summer. We have some interesting guys coming in with some good players returning. Darius McGhee is a great player and should be able to play immediately. I hope our schedule will be better for non-conference play. If we want to be considered or even looked at for the next conference realignment for 2023-2025, we need to step up our schedules, promote ourselves in the new markets and recruit harder and better. I will like to see what schedules that fans would like for the upcoming season (if there is a change). I wonder if McCaw can help with gaining more tougher opponents for our future schedules?

On a related ASun note, Stetson is hosting it's first regional this week, and as a resident only 20 miles from Deland, I hope to catch several of the games. The teams playing:

DeLand Regional
1. Stetson
2. South Florida
3. Oklahoma State
4. Hartford

Stetson has a history of good players making an impact in the big leagues and should elevate the competition of LU beginning next year.

Just to throw something out there, I say LU will go 9-5 and finish 3rd in the A-Sun next season. I’d also say we can do better and win the conference, but should absolutely do no worse than 3rd.

LU has some great players coming in to add unto most of the team returning from last season. McKay stated that he need to work more offensively while developing the defense. I have faith that McKay and the staff will challenge these young men and make them mentally focused before the start of the season.

I’m not sure if we have a thread for WBB, but I believe the team will be even better than last season. We have a center Apilyn Bonny from NY who will most likely play and the freshman from Sweden who can keep the pace steady when Ashlyn Baker is taking a break (Unless she’ll be redshirted). Two players are transferring (Iva Ilic and Ola Makurat), however we have other players that can fill in those roles (Kierra Johnson-Graham coming back from injury, Emily Lytle who transferred from UA-Little Rock before last season and Ria Gulley who also transferred from IU before last season).

Pretty excited about our new basketball commit. Hope he works out well for LU. I’m always pleased when kids from my home state attend Liberty.

Is 12-5 or 11-6 unreasonable in conference play?

Just to clarify on what Liberty says about North Alabama when the schedules are released. No we are not eligible for NCAA post season tournament. But we are eligible for All ASun postseason events.

I think y'all will be too 5 in the conference, it's hard to say exactly where, I have watched the conference for a few years and it can get unpredictable in a hurry. I say the top 5 (in no particular order) will be

FGCU
Liberty
Lipscomb
North Florida
Jacksonville

Question, if the A-Sun ever goes to 10, can divisions happen with 5 in each? If so, how would the regular season format look?

RE: 2018-19 Basketball Seasons
I don’t really understand divisions in basketball. Most conferences that tried it have gone away from it. I like one single division/conference. Even with a 10 team conference a round robin 18 game home/home conference schedule is viable. It’ when you get to 12-14 teams is when scheduling get a little dicey.

I’d love to see a bigger A-Sun as long as the competition and exposure increase with it.

Cool, I wouldn't mind 10, but more takes money away from everyone, unless the schools are good enough in basketball to get 3-4 or 5 into the tournament. If 2-3 is all we get in (or 1 or 2) on a regular basis, no more than 10, 9 is even better.

RE: 2018-19 Basketball Seasons
I guess the new guys get the worst schedule. Three of the first four games are on the road as well as four of the last five (with a bye in there). Ouch! I already expect our home attendance to drop a little as we won't be playing local teams that could bring fans (however small they may be) or be familiar foes but having so many home games back to back is asking a lot from the fans.

I expect to have the best team but we always find a way to disappoint. That doesn't stop me from cheering for the Flames!

That's just the conference schedule, so y'all know what nonconference play looks like?

All I know about our schedule is we play in a tournament in Las Vegas, play at Gonzaga, JSU and I think we Toledo.

They keep dropping games every other day on us so I guess by the season we will know.

WBB plays Xavier.
