I do think we'll respond this week vs. La Tech after our lackluster effort against the Owls. I expect a close game and believe our passing game will improve this week IF we keep w/ Eckert as our starting QB. In the least, we should be able to get some consistency at the QB position. We'll definately need to score more than 20 to beat a pretty good La Tech team.

Defensively, we haven't been able to stop a strong running game all year. Unfortunately, La Tech has a pretty good RB in Moats so this will be a tough challenge for our depleted ranks of DL's & LB's in stopping the run. If we sellout vs. the run then we'll be relying on one on one coverage outside (which could be another problem).

My prediction:

SMU - 20
La Tech - 31

My one caveat will be if SMU can get 3 or more turnovers we'll win.

Go Ponies!

The game is at Dallas if you didnt know..

Its not that far of a drive from Dallas to Ruston...let me think...Longview is 3 hours from Ruston (I love in Longview) and Longview is 2 hours from Dallas so its about 5 hours from Dallas to Ruston I would say.

PR - Maybe you were thinking of the 'Port. It's only 2.5 hours from Dallas. We did play La Tech at the Independence Bowl a few years back.

The Ponies are at home. For what it is worth, we have played very well at home (TTU, SJSU). So perhaps the pines will rise to the occasion. Also, this is a young team and will be inconsistent. One week play well and the next play poorly. Once again, I think we can win. We need a great effort on both sides of the ball but most of all we need vastly improved special teams. SMU 32 La Tech 24
