Will be a big upgrade for the Birmingham Bowl, and nice to see the program getting a long due new stadium. Love playing against the Blazers in any sport

I can’t look at veterans stadium without thinking of the Birmingham Vulcans...and how old the place felt THEN.

Good for them. 3 years ago they got rid of the sport. Now they get a new stadium.

Serious question. Why would they need a 55,000 seat stadium when they barely draw 8-10,000 per game? Like K2 said, maybe the city of B'ham still has hopes of bringing in a pro team of some sorts.

they have been talking about this for years - this was done for the city moreso than UAB

UAB averaged over 26,000 last year.

Also, the stadium is not being built for UAB alone. UAB would have preferred a stadium between 35K to 40K, but it was built to draw other events as well.
