I understand that they play at a much lower level, but all he does is win.

Oh wow, Rochester won their national championship this year.

I always wonder how you know when that translates. I guess he would have to jump to the GLIAC to demonstrate his chops unless somebody took a chance on him?

Rochester isn't a NAIA dynasty so one championship doesn't mean much.

Pleasant would need to climb the ladder either by going into D-I as an assistant coach or D-II as a head coach.

Then he needs to prove himself again ala the "Ferris flash... "

I would not classify Bronkema as a flash because he has won a lot of games consistently. To win the D2 national championship is more impressive than what Braun achieved while he was at Siena Heights. Bronkema has accomplished a lot for only being the head coach at Ferris for 5 years.

Once again, Braun got the EMU HC job because of what he did at EMU, not Siena Heights.

What he did at Siena got him a seat on the EMU bench.

Not disputing that, just stating Bronkema is not a flash in the pan based on his D2 success over several seasons and that Bronkema accomplished more at Ferris vs Braun at Siena.

Interesting that UofD has not hired a coach yet. I wonder if the players that have indicated they will transfer might reconsider and stay at UofD based on the next coach. Another tidbit mentioned is how far the horizon league has sunk.......

I don't know Tony Paul. I instantly like him because he has a first name for a last name, like me. However.... It is odd that comments about Cory Allen to EMU and Rick Pitino as a candidate appeared on the UDM discussion board before he Tweeted them.
Who knows though....

Yes, I've followed, lightly, their fan forums and his posts seem to follow their posting.

When does Ferris play @ Wayne State next season? 03-lmfao

Thousands of EMU fans will flock to Detroit... (probably not 03-lmfao).

Chairman staying in NBA draft. I truly can't figure why he is doing this......???

UDM still has no coach! Puzzling to say the least.

Best I can say is that Kam was caught between a rock and hard place.

I doubt he wanted to stay at UDM.

His dad is still on the staff at UDM, so I wouldn't have expected him to transfer to say EMU.

So he'll end up in Europe?????

Mike Davis, it is. Not a bad hire for them, all things considered.

It will be interesting to see how well he recruits Detroit. He has a decent pedigree and resume.

I certainly like his results! NCAA tournament bound 3 of 4 years at Texas Southern????

Only EMU would put a clause in a coaching contract for automatic extensions for 20 win seasons and then allow the coach to schedule Rochester, marygrove, Siena Heights, etc. Admitingly Mike Davis figured out the math that is one solution for mid majors. There are other ways to fix our schedule too.

Yeah, UDM is going to go 1 - 11 in the OOC season. Ugh!!

Okay, maybe 2 - 10.

EMU fans would never settle for our team playing tons of away games in OOC and not playing at home for a month (plus it is against the MAC guidelines on OOC scheduling).

I believe EMU is doing what it can within the parameters of the MAC guidelines (6 OOC games min.) plus our ability to pay the game guarantees for the visiting team.

If we have another 250 - 350K laying around on the books to pay out, we would not had to cut... (fill in the blank as you see fit).

If there are ways to fix our schedules, please PM me and write the AD. It isn't simple.

There are AT LEAST 3 main considerations:

1). We must schedule at least 6 OOC home games per MAC governance. That could get costly if the games are D-I and not home and home.

2). D-I game guarantees usually start around 50 - 75K. Could we/should we play a Texas Southern say 50 - 75K to journey to the Convo? Is the AD sitting on a mountain of cash that we don't know about? Lol.

3). OOC games are always "Let's make a deal" and not everyone wants to come to Ypsi and a lot of schools have NO interest in playing against a zone team (any more than a lot of teams don't like to play against the Army FB team).

Again, I'll say if MBB was our primary sport then we could drop say another 500 - 750K and do things which cost money.

And quite honestly we are at a huge disadvantage because our home game revenues are so meager. There are many mid-majors averaging 5 - 10K and bringing in buckets of revenues.

To quote someone: "Money talks and b*ll s*it walks." If someone won the lottery and dropped 1M / year for MBB, we'd see a completely different saga.

Looks like Davis will be bringing his 4 star son to U of D with him see Detroit titan hoops website
Also says Davis was making upper 200k plus with incentitives so what is U of D paying him? Some guesses are in the 400k range

And that shows how the lower (salary) range of the MAC is close to the SWAC salaries and that just isn't right.

SWAC is a very weak conference with poor finances.

MAC salaries should be 2x that within the SWAC.

I'll repeat what I just posted above: Our MBB's bball budget needs to be say 500 - 750K more to give us enough finances to run a first rate mid-major program.
