RE: The Armory
wiser people than me are saying to stand by until some more details can be found out. it just doesn't seem possible nobody knew about it.
as you might recall...there were also grand plans to turn the armory into the gym we always wanted. we all know how that turned out.

I don't think you EVER fit the culture of Drexel and I don't think anybody will miss you.
While you're at it, any way you can be done with university related sports message boards too?
This has nothing to do with basketball.
Drexel has limited resources. By quietly donating the Armory to Fry's squash organization, the university no longer has a facility for athletics, convocation, or concerts. The Fry family is exploiting the university for their own personal gain. Nepotism and sleazy corruption at it's finest.

Unless somebody at The Triangle is following US Squash on social media or constantly checking out their webpage, there would be no reason for them to have seen it.

Quote:The US Squash Board unanimously expressed its full support behind the National Center project, which would include eighteen singles courts – two four-glass-walled exhibition courts and two or more North American Hardball Doubles courts, a state of the art Learning and Innovation Center, the U.S. Squash Hall of Fame and the latest in streaming and media opportunities for the sport, all in the heart of University City in Philadelphia.
The Board took this step based on the overwhelmingly positive responses about the National Center from the squash community at large over the last three months, as well as the very strong fundraising momentum that has been generated. To date, two-thirds of the estimated $26 million goal has been committed.
While final approval will depend on the satisfactory resolution of several factors regarding the site, timing and other terms, Mark Pagon, US Squash Chairman of the Board, expressed his expectation that these hurdles will be cleared, and went further to say, “We are very pleased with the rapid progress in securing some initial generous commitments to the project.”

Things that The Powers That Be want to get done at Drexel, tend to get done at Drexel. They had 2/3 of the money by July of last year. They reiterated their support of the National Center project 17 days ago:
Quote:Klipstein concluded his remarks before the meeting was adjourned by adding, “Looking ahead, the organization will remain focused on developing and supporting its technology to the benefit of the sport and related racquet sports. The establishment of a National Center also appears within reach, and the two initiatives combined will allow the association to provide well-trained pros and coaches running effective programming to an ever-increasing number of accessible courts across the country.”

I'd love to be proven wrong and to be walked back from the cliff, but this seems too far along to be derailed.
