I don't get the negativism about the potential hire of Darrell Walker
When he wasn't hired around 2000, it was supposedly because he did not have a college degree. So he goes and gets his degree. When we didn't hire him 3 years ago it was because he didn't have college coaching experience. He goes out and gets a DII job and goes to NCAA tournament both seasons. He has done everything we've asked. He wants to be here. We will be lucky to get him. I hope this is not just a rumor, because it would be a great thing for our program.

How would our fan base feel about someone who had played for Arkansas State?

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Didn't bother me when Sidney was hired. Just want to win, and had hopes Sidney could take us there. He was popular in the state, and everything looked rosy, until the season started, and no winning to speak of. Don't have anything personally against Darrell, just don't like the smell of outsiders money, buying a coaching job for their friends, if that is what happened. Would have much preferred a young energetic one like Newell, Porter, or Beard. So far, hiring local boys here has been a damn flop

I hope so. Not holding my breath, but he has head coaching success, leadership and maturity that Wes lacked. And he's a Little Rock Man by choice not birth. He is from Chicago. He can relate to recruits up there as well as down here. He is also now well connected in Atlanta. This is not a Porter, Harper or Beard, but a big step up from Wes. Can't you see I'm triyng to see the positives here? You gotta look beyond the sausage and bacon he was involved with for a few years in the early 80's.

Good point. Wasn't he a juco transfer? How long was he actually in Fayetteville, maybe 2 years? He has 55 years of life experience outside of those couple of years.
