Straight party voting, do you support it?
New Mexico use to have straight party voting until our former Secretary of State (Republican) did away with. Now the new Secretary of State (Democrat) wants to bring it back. https://www.abqjournal.com/1150042/strai...exico.html

Do you support it?

I don't. Lead to many unqualified and corrupt individuals to be elected here in NM. They either resigned or were arrested.

Well... someone supports it. They're just not brave enough to say it here.

Locally have voted for plenty of Dems, city council, Mayor, County level also. There have historically been plenty of normal Dems. For Congress and Senate it is much more difficult to do this.

Hell, I think even listing the party on the ballot should be done away with.

RE: Straight party voting, do you support it?
Here in the South we have the term "Blue Dog Democrat". For those unfamiliar, it means that before the 1980's, people in the South would vote for a blue tick hound dog before they would a Republican.

The rational for straight ticket voting is that there is a significant portion of voters who will vote specifically for every candidate of one party or the other, and that giving them a one click option saved time and made the voting lines move faster.

I for one have neither strong feeling on either side of this debate.

I am one of the ones that support it, but I must be misinformed. I support the option of being able to straight party vote when I am at the ballot box, but I dont support it if its mandatory to do so. I hope this makes sense.

I support it.

Two reasons.

1) If a person chooses to vote for all the candidates of one party, they should be able to do so. Why not make it easy?

2) As a person who has yet to see a demmie-rat on the ballot I'd vote for, I tend to vote straight ticket anyway. If I wish to save time and tick one box, what's the big deal?

Not to mention, ticking one box would be easier for all the dead folks who seem to vote "D" in cities like Chicago......
