DWS played some outfield this week but still isn't allowed to hit. Ready to see him full strength. We haven't had a strong power game. ECU is tied for 104th place in home runs per game, with only 17 on the year. Compare that to an upcoming opponent NC State in 4th place with 42. I do like the way ECU is playing smart, taking advantage of every small mistake (most games), picking away piece by piece. That's good coaching.
I rather we stick to small ball. That works in any stadium regardless of the conditions. If you rely too much on the long ball a bad wind direction day could ruin you.

A leadoff home run scores a run every time. A leadoff single scores a run 35% of the time.

Looking at the standings its weird to see Tulane down so low. Are you guys having injury issues or is it just a bad year? To me Tulane should always be top four with ECU,WSU and Houston not in that order but just in the top tier.

They were picked to finish 8th in the preseason poll.
And given program history, UCONN should be in the top half every year. Don't let geography fool you.

I'm sure it was all due to the harsh weather...

Very true. It's the only reason we also win football games.

Tell me where I said I didn’t want Dwanya in the lineup? I just said I rather we stick with small ball as our primary way of scoring. That doesn’t mean no HRs ever, just that we shouldn’t heavily rely on it. I rather we small ball our way to a bases loaded and then have Dwanya score a grand slam than hit a solo HR followed by 3 long fly outs.

Well sure I’d rather us hit home runs every at bat. Obviously hits are better than getting out. You can hit a solo home run and follow it with 3 groundouts. It doesn’t matter. We have a well balanced lineup. You are out of your league.
