Indeed: Rice is at #178. And this week's midweek (Tuesday) opponent -- UH -- is at #203.

Interesting to look at conference losses since the demise of the SWC starting in 1997
None of these include conference tournament losses.

Only 4 years with double digit conference losses 2000 (11), 2001 (10), 2016 (10), 2017 (14)

Three distinct stretches:
From 1997-2001 (5 seasons) 39 losses
From 2002-2008 (7 seasons) 29 losses
From 2009-2017 (9 seasons) 78 losses

Which conference era would have the toughest conference foes (our OOC schedules tend to be fairly consistent strength wise)? WAC, CUSA 1 (before AAC), or CUSA 2 (after AAC)?

From 2009-2014 (6 seasons) 46 losses. 2009 started the current streak of teams that didn't make it to Omaha. They still had 40 win seasons and had multiple super regional trips.

From 2015-current (3 full seasons and one current) 37 losses currently. This group was the first not to make the 40 win mark, end the conference streak, and my guess would be to also end our post season streak at this rate.

Don'y worry Wayne just needs time to turn it around.
