The next one makes him look like a pure spot-up three shooter who stays on the perimeter. He has a pretty nice stroke and gets his mid-range shot off quickly. Not convinced he’ll bang with Moses, Thompson and the like but only because I don’t see much of that here.

Against the Zone, a guy like Hundal will be able to score against the smaller defenders on the outside. Otherwise facing a Man defense, he draws the big defenders away from the basket. Questions are while doing this is he a defensive liability, what is his transition game like, and can he find the open guy with a pass? He definitely has upside and would give the Rockets another Offensive weapon.

I agree. In particular, I think it would create some match-up problems for other MAC teams if he & Knapke were on the floor together, with Hundal at the low post. Knapke likes to play at the high post--has a nice outside shot and is a capable passer from the post.

I do still think we need a "big" body on this team, someone who can play straight-up against a guy like Moses, Thompson IV, De La Rosa...however, this late in the recruiting game, it may not be a likely get, so even though Hundal may not be "that" guy, I am intrigued. Seems like a rebounding machine, and I believe he averaged more than 2 blocks a game, so he has those instincts.

If he adds value (and I think he does), then you find a way to get him here if he wants to sign with us. I'd certainly prefer not to lose Saunders (looks like a high energy, fun player); and while I'm not as excited about TJ Smith, I also don't think it's cool to offer a guy & then pull the rug out after he verbals (if a recruit chooses a different path after verbaling, I still don't it's cool but at least that's of his choice). So, I guess to have what I want, someone else has to transfer.
If this young man signs My guess is Gordon will be leaving unless Saunders or TJ Smith don't qualify academically but that is just a guess on my part. I don't see Coach K pulling a scholarship offer after someone accepted unless they don't qualify academically.

Would be shocked if either commit isn't eligible, both seem smart and attend basketball academies designed to get kids scholarships

He's suddenly getting a lot of attention. According to his JC coach, In the past few days Cal Poly, Montana St and Cal have been in to see Hundal - "Great having @CalMBBall and @calpolymbb in today to see 6-10 LPC forward Anand Hundal!" "Really appreciate @MSUBobcatsMBB for flying in today to see 6-10 LPC forward Anand Hundal work out!"

As things worked out I won't get to see Anand Hundal as a Toledo Rocket but I will be able to follow his college career here in Seattle as a Seattle U Redhawk

good for him, cool back story. seattle u is a very small D1 school but it feels like a good fit for Hundal whose size and game remind me of nathan boothe a bit

RE: Anand Hundal 6'10 JC Center
Watched some video of one of their games and was not impressed at all by this guy. I would however, want to know more about #40 on that team. Looks to be about 2 inches taller than Hundal, quicker and more aggressive around the basket. I would assume he is off to a D-I school

Edit: I went out to their site and looked at #40. He is Peter Hewitt and is listed as 6'10" and 220 - same size as Handul. Looks to be more of a center - but the video I watched showed neither guy shooting from the outside with Hewitt scoring a lot of buckets from the inside with a variety of dunks. He was a freshman at the San Pacitas JC. Then I look at the box score for that game and it shows Handul scoring 25 in 28 minutes and Hewitt getting 12 in 20 minutes as a reserve. The team got smoked 81-55 in the first game of their post-season playoffs.

Still not impressed with the guy that got away. Which means he'll probably become a 3rd team all-American next year....

Yeah, I think Edu clearly has the higher upside and is a 4 year player. Hundal can shoot for various places at 6-9 which is valuable, but Edu has some of that "it factor" we'll just need to be patient as he's a skinny kid who's never played US level competition.

Just my opinion but if he went to Seattle he probably had no interest in coming here. Seattle is a lot closer to home.
