RE: Game 1 - WKU vs Rice
Collins leadoff single.
Sarchet sruck out. Long AB, but still, that's our ninth strikeout in just 6 innings. Put the friggin ball in play!
Gneiting hit by pitch. Runners on 1B and 2B, one out. I'd actually try a bunt here, as I think the odds of at least moving up the runners are best.
Cox struck out looking for second time. This is really pathetic.
Chandler clutch, 2-out, RBI single! Ryan now 3-4. Runners on the corners, two outs.
New pitcher for WKU, a RHP, thankfully...
Cruz clutch, 2-out, 2-RBI triple to straight away CF!
Comeaux struck out.
Good guys take a 4-0 lead into the top of the seventh inning.

Matt walks his first batter, but nothing more, and another strikeoutKKKKKKKKK. His pitch count has to be over 100 pitches by now. I'm not sure how much longer Wayne will keep him out there, despite how well he's pitching.

Proctor grounded out to 1B. Ford is in a funk right now. Not looking comfortable up there for first time this season.
Dunlap popped to 1B.
Collins grounded out SS. Now that's going out quietly.
Good guys lead 4-0 heading to the top of the eighth inning.

RE: Game 1 - WKU vs Rice
Matt gets the first two out in the eighth on strikeoutsKKKKKKKKKKK, but then surrenders his first hit of the game, a ground ball up the middle by the #9 hitter.
Now, let's close it out. And he retires the next batter.
8.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 11 Ks
Welcome back, Matt!

Matt loses the no hitter on a single with 2 outs on the 8th. Gets the 3rd out on a grounder to 1st. Great job by Matt.

Sarchet flied out to CF.
Gneiting grounded out to 1B.
Cox grounded out.
Man, the offense decided to go home after scoring in the 6th inning. Two lightning quick and quiet innings with not a single hard hit ball.
Good guys take a 4-0 lead into the top of the ninth inning.

Parthasarathy in to pitch the 9th. Cdertainly not my choice-- I would have gone with Kravetz, who's been quite solid his last several outings, or Amador. We cannot afford to blow this game. And WKU has their meat of the order due up.

RE: Game 1 - WKU vs Rice
Jackson walks the leadoff man (!!!!), but strikeouts their #3 hitter. And struck out their cleanup hitter. Two down. And strikes out the side. Jackson proves me wrong!
Nice win, though Janish really needs to work with our hitters to cut down on our strikeouts. It's out of control at the moment.
Game Ball #1: Matt Canterino (W, 2-3, 8.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 WP, 11 Ks)-- so who kidnapped the real Matt C. the past two Fridays??? Total dominance.
Game Ball #2: Ryan Chandler (3-4, double, 2 runs, 1 RBI)-- just continuing his breakout season. Only left-hand batter to do anything against WKU's starting southpaw.
Game Ball #3: Trei Cruz (2-3, triple, sac fly, 3 RBIs)-- with both the game-winning sac fly, and the game-breaking 2-RBI triple. Clutch.
That's one. We really need a sweep this weekend, though WKU is no patsy. We need a strong game from Jefferies tomorrow, followed by what we hope will be a return to health and dominance for Moss on Sunday. Go Owls!

WKU is under .500 against a bad schedule. Their RPI is >250

Yes, we need a sweep. Matt was spectacular. But, let's not pretend like WKU isn't exactly what they are....not very good. We need to be scoring more than 4 runs against the WKUs of the world.

I don’t care what their record is or what their RPI is. We play them tomorrow and Sunday. And we need to win both games.

+1. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the season.

Unrelated but I heard tonight that in addition to being at MinuteMaid next year, we also host UT for a series.

Glad to see the boys TCB tonight. Hopefully that continues through the weekend because any loss against this team would really hurt.
