Asked before about Loyola to the Big East. Why not Loyola to the American? Add VCU or SLU too.

Realize the American doesn’t want a Big East football situation again, but three non-FBs should not be a problem.

Northern Iowa, Bradley, Southern Illinois, and even Drake one year made the tournament in the mid to late 2000's. For a while they were a 2-, 3-, even 4-bid league.

Is was not that long ago. In both 2015 and 2016 the MVC got 2 bids to the NCAA tourney, Wichita St and Northern Iowa both years, with both teams in both years advancing to the round of 32. In fact, in 2015, those 2 teams were ranked in the top 25 all season.

I really don't see the American going past their current 12/12 set-up in football/men's basketball, unless they get paid more in the next TV deal demanding so. They don't need more mouths to feed. They don't need more teams in order to improve basketball. They just need Memphis/UConn to stop underachieving, Tulane/USF/ECU to get out of the basement, and UCF/SMU/Houston to continue its newfound basketball success. Additionally, if Tulsa/Temple want to stop struggling, that would be a benefit too.

The MVC isn't a bad conference for Loyola moving forward. In a perfect world, to their administration, my guess is that they would want to be in the Big East. Since the Big East has taken a team already from the MVC (Creighton), I'd think they'd be fine staying put and just developing and advancing its program.
