Very profound because many of the kids today aren't around long enough to give. They want to be given

Profound indeed.

Did coach Hawkins want Reggie and Jarrin to stay?

What did he do to change either of their minds?

Why try to change someone's mind that wants to leave? I commend both young men on their contributions as Broncos, but if they want to leave don't stand in their way.

There is a lot of talent out there, in 2 years we'll be struggling to remember their names. I want players on our team who want to play at Western. If they're indifferent about it, it'll probably reflect in their play.

Thomas Wilder wanted to play at Western and he brought 100% every time he was out on the court. That's the kind of players we need to recruit.

No need to really.

But if you are going to send a surrogate to this board with a "profound quote" about selfish kids who lack commitment.

It would be interesting to hear about what coach Hawkins did to teach these life lessons/values at a critical moment in each of these kid's lives.

You know...showing HIS "commitment"

Quote:I want players on our team who want to play at Western.

Agreed 100%.

But don't be naive.

You (should) know how it works in D1 basketball.

Sometimes the kids initiate these transfers.

Often times not.

Coaches have a way of letting their wishes be known.

Either throughout the year as they interact with a given player.

Or at the "end of the year meeting" ("I just don't see you playing much here, we'll help you find a spot if you decide to leave").

I'm only bringing this up because Buick Bronco came on this board with the obvious goal of (publicly) throwing Reggie Jones under the bus.

That's despicable from my perspective.

And there could be only one motivation for doing it.

#1 Kids aren’t mature enough to think this stuff through. Tave was, Jones probably not.

#2 You’ve invested a lot of time, money, and effort into these players, of course you should try to sway them.

In Randall’s case I’m guessing both parties saw it in their best interest.

Not really. Hard to forget Juwan Howard Jr, Darius Phillips or Conner Tava.

I’m sure if the Paul family had a do over, they’d wish Darius had been talked into staying.

I may be incorrect but I am of the understanding Mrs. Paul served up the Fish Sticks. She was the driving force. Groce was more than happy to be the recipient.

Ess you are officially my hero. 04-cheers

By the way, Loyola seems to be doing just fine without a practice facility. They are building one though. But remember fundraising/finding deep pockets to support your program is impossible. 03-lmfao
