Oh, MT hired a new coach. I thought that was the point of the thread. If I wanted to read about cities I would visit the Chamber of Commerce. This ain't that.
Well, mt fans don't seem too interested in discussing the hire, so it doesn't really seem to be getting in the way.
Cause the thread got hijacked by stupid ****. I don't care what thread it happens in it's a worthless and pointless discussion.

Yay. Asheville is the best city ever founded. Everywhere else is trash.
I was on the fence about the hire initially but feel better after research. I like that he is coming into a program that is not in shambles. I hope he has continued success which is great for the school and conference.

Going to be a hard sale on this coach because Kermit Davis had Middle at the top of the mountain (historically). Any drop off will be looked at more harshly.
The only fix is to win early and continue but Middle loses a lot

Short of total disaster I'd say he has a total pass on next year, but I expect a CBI or CIT berth in 2020 is the absolute minimum to keep us from getting restless and even that would need to be followed up with a NIT bid at minimum.
I don't feel like those are unreasonable expectations, but even that is obviously a far shorter leash than Kermit was afforded for a decade.

Congratualtions MT! I want every team in this conference to make good hires, and McDevitt has certainly done a lot with few resources, which is typically a prerequisite for our teams.
It also opens up another non-P5 HC job in NC and I am hoping that Houston Fancher and Bobby Lutz find homes.

I would be disappointed with this hire if MTSU fan, I feel like you could have done better then this...Even David Padgett would have been a better hire, this hire reminds too much of horrible hire when we pegged Matt Kilcullen, his best season translates prior to this guy MTSU is bringing in...

RE: MT hiring UNC Asheville HC Nick McDevitt
It's funny only wkcc fans are saying this is a bad hire. LMAO. Should we expect anything less? I'm not even going to disagree with the statement. I just think it's funny y'all are the only ones who are saying it. What a shock.
Padgett? LMAO. Hire a kid with a few years of assistantship experience, who is also tied (even if just indirectly to the FBI investigation) over a someone with five years of successful HC experience. You're just trolling now.
We went after Grant, Forbes and Odom. We simply weren't willing to pony up enough to make them move. So, from that perspective you can say that MT isn't as committed to being the top program outside the power conferences. That would be a fair statement. Though I like the fact that we at least made an effort. That said, I believe we offered Forbes well over what anyone else is making in this league. I believe he expects to be a P5 in a month from now. And Odom wanted other concessions we wouldn't make. There are others who know the details better if they want to weigh in (I really had no interest in following the search that closely), but we simply hired the best coach on the board who would accept the offer we were putting out there.

Yes, to raise a family. Not to visit or for anything else. Go look at things to do in Asheville on TripAdvisor. Is it comical. There is nothing to do or see.
Once you get past Bourbon Street, The French Quarter and the other tourist traps NO is a Craphole. And that's being nice.
I agree. Most of New Orleans is a shathole. That is why I wouldn't raise my family there. Have you ever been Uptown on the streetcar? Where Tulane, Audubon Park and the Zoo are located? You know Magazine street with 10 thousand restaurants and bars.
I have, and you are still in the touristy spots. I haven't been to NO since I moved from Lafayette in 2006 but I imagine most of the abandoned houses left over from Hurricane Katrina are still standing, just getting over grown by weeds, trees and vegetation. And have they ever removed all of the abandoned cars. The last time I seen a number on them was around 17,000 or so, are they still in the same place as they were only rust buckets now.
I lived in Lafayette LA for 11 years (95-06) in those 11 years I never once done Mardi Gras in NO. I never felt safe enough to.
When I lived in Lafayette I knew a guy there that was orig. from NO and when we would go there he would take me to places that the locals who live in NO would go to eat, shop and things like that. Some of the places he would take me I felt I needed to have my head on a swivel just to be safe.

I wouldn't touch anyone that has been associated with Louisville in the last 7-10 years and maybe anyone that was there while Tom Jurich was AD there.

RE: MT hiring UNC Asheville HC Nick McDevitt
Not a "Wow" hire most MT folks were hoping for. I think a lot were wanting a "name" coach that immediately drew attention. However, I think this is going to be a very good hire for us. The more I read about him, the more I like. The only "negative" that I can see is that his only experience is at UNC-A. Hasn't been around to experience other programs, etc. Not necessarily a bad thing, though. Looking forward to CNM program to get started!
