Conference Media deals expiration dates?
With CUSA, SB, MAC, ACC, SEC locking up their tv long term, realignment could be impacted by the next media deals signed by the other 5 FBS conferences...
There are 5 conferences that aren’t locked up for decades to come.
Are these dates correct?:
AAC’s media deal expires after the 2019/2020 season.
MWC’s media deal expires after the 2019/2020 season.
BYU’s media deal expires after the 2019/2020 season.
Big 10’s media deal expires after the 2022/2023 season.
PAC 12’s media deal expires after the 2023/2024 season.
Big 12’s media deal expires after the 2024/2025 season.

The AAC, MW and BYU are correct.

I think you may be correct on the others.

Big East deal concludes 2025-26. It was originally a 12-year deal signed in 2013.

"The ACC and SEC both have long-term media grant-of-rights agreements, running through 2035-36 and 2033-34, respectively. "

Their ESPN deals include their networks which is why they are locked down for the next 16-17 years.

The LHN runs until 2030/31. So it runs 6 years after the next major TV deal.

"According to its contract with the university, ESPN’s payments to Texas started at $10,980,000 per year, increasing by 3 percent annually until 2031, or an average of just under $15 million each year."

When does the SEC’s CBS “game of the week” expire?

The ACC signed a deal with ESPN in 2008 that gives 100% of their games to ESPN....and it goes until 2036. That’s the longest, most encompassing contract that ESPN has ever had. For comparison, The Big 10 signed a 6 year deal with Fox and ESPN with the rest of their games on a network they own half of.

2023-2024

This is an oft- overlooked aspect of the SEC's media situation, they aren't totally beholden to ESPN.

CBS pays the SEC $55m per year for that, more than $3.5m per school, which will likely go up after 2023.

And that’s why sec games can’t be played on ABC like ESPN does for the big 10, big 12, pac 12, AAC etc. Unless it’s a coincidence that ESPN won’t put SEC home games on ABC?

Yes, the CBS deal gives CBS exclusive OTA coverage of SEC home games. Disney can air SEC games on any of its channels, and since 2013 even during the same time as the CBS broadcast, except for ABC.
