David Padgett
Now that Louisville has decided not to retain interim coach David Padgett, his name has surfaced as a possible candidate for three jobs- Utah State, Middle Tennessee, and Little Rock. Reported on 24/7Sports.com.

Not thrilled about anyone who worked for Pitino.

RE: David Padgett
I wondered if he might be a possibility after I saw he wasn't retained. Then both us and ASU would have Louisville assistants as head coaches.

RE: David Padgett
The original article mentioned LR, MTSU, Utah State, and possibly Missouri State as interested in Padgett. MTSU and MoSt have hired coaches. Don't know about Utah State. From what I can tell Utah State may pay more. I would think Padgett would have more connections with the south central part of the country. Hiring Padgett would be somewhat of a "splash" hire nationally. Of course, that lasts for a day or two, and his coaching and recruiting over months (and maybe years) is what will matter.

I think Mark Fox has been mentioned for the Utah State job among others. I have not seen LR mentioned.

Mark Fox is in talks with Colorado State- clearly out of our league- but they are still considering other candidates. Fox is getting 1.2 million from Georgia, over the next 2 years, so he won't be hurting for money for the next couple of years even if he only gets a "measly" 300K or so from us.

Colorado State has already hired the Drake coach.

Thanks. I guess I had seen that, but forgot. If Fox wants a job, LR wouldn't be the worst place he could end up. He would be embraced here (I guess I should add, if he wins).
