Amazing. People seem to clown on Weber as a coach and it looks like he's about to making his second Final Four.

you wonder... if Loyola were to somehow win the tourney, would that be the absolute worst case scenario for Las Vegas right now? I mean, I'd venture a guess that there are a lot of folks right now putting bets on them at what was before yesterday a 50-1 longshot.

Any way you slice it, both teams overachieved this year.

Dear God please don't let WVU beat Villanova .... my SEC and Big East teams keep losing to these grubby mid-level ACC and Big 12 teams.

I mean it is one thing to lose to a Kansas or North Carolina, but WVU, Kansas State, and FSU?

That could go both ways. Last night’s 2nd half foul count had a similar disparity in Loyola-Chicago/Nevada. Nevada was down 1 with 3 fouls to give and elected to play D with 36 seconds left. Loyola hit a 3 at expiration to go up 4 with 6 seconds left. Nevada immediately cut it back to 1 but never had a chance with 3 fouls to give.

Villanova could be tonight’s Nevada (down 2 right now).

I recall a grubby Huggins-led WVU team beating a should-have-been-champs Kentucky team in 2010.

Don't underestimate WVU's ability to grub out these kinds of wins. Of course it just paves the way for Duke, because WVU could never grub a win over Duke.

WVU's bad luck is that they didn't get one of the officiating crews that have been using the "No Autopsy No Foul" approach in this tournament...

Well, we have our Elite 8. By conference:

3 Big 12
2 ACC
1 B1G
1 Big East
1 Whatever LoC is

All four games are seriously intriguing, but Kansas/Duke is a Final 4 calibre matchup. Based on play so far, I'm picking ...

FSU ... Kansas State ... Texas Tech ... Kansas

Yep, the Big 12 will match the 1985 Big East with 3 of the Final 4 teams.

Boring day today. All the higher seeds outside of Texas Tech won. I hate 1-2 Regional Finals. What's the fun in watching Kansas and Duke play? I can see that any old day.

Hey, I know there are people who really get into those type games, but they just aren't my cup of tea. I just don't enjoy watching the basketball blue bloods play each other.

Today was the most boring day of the tournament. Still one of my favorite tournaments ever.

They didn't really need it. Wright even said WVU was the most physical team they played that season, and Villanova sure looked lost out there at times. You could see them playing soft, confused, and somewhat unwilling to let themselves get knocked around out there to test the officials, and for that, WVU kept the game on their terms.

But, Villanova is usually a better second-half team. Methodically, they took WVU apart. If WVU had been able to go into the half up by more than a possession, I think this would be a different game. Villanova is a smart team, but WVU totally punched them in the mouth for a good portion of the game; the half allowed Wright to keep his boys focused to let WVU undo itself.

Looks like WVU never got the memo that old Big East ball isn't tolerated by the officials anymore. The game felt like that for a bit. Still a darn good team.

yeah and old Big East ball is especially not tolerated in the NCAA tournament.

just look at the 3 refs in the game tonight- their regular season fouls per game and NCAA tourney fouls per game-
Ron Groover- reg season 34.01 NCAA 41.5
Mike Roberts- reg season 35.19 NCAA 40.5
Joe Lindsey- reg season 36.62 NCAA 43.0

It's really that hard to figure out Loyola plays in the MVC? You could have even said Horizon and that would have been acceptable as that was their long time conference.

But you don't sound like a so-called P5 homer or anything.

After the Sweet 16, I prefer that. It's why I'm hoping Loyola either makes the title game or loses tomorrow. The title game with them in it would be fun one way or another. Short of that, I hope they don't become a George Mason or VCU, just crashing the party. It's funny how they could make the national title game while only facing one sure fire top 25 team and only one top 4 seed.

FWIW, I wasn't laughing at the kinds of matchups you like, just the notion hat Duke and Kansas play frequently, they really don't, about every 5 years or so.
