That is ridiculous and wasteful. What happened to the 600 Billion plus that was spent last year. Or the year before or the year before that. Could you imagine what kind of road and rail system America would have it we just spent only one years worth of that type of spending on it.
The problem is that we are putting so much effort into no-win, no-matter wars in the Middle East. We actually are not maintaining a military force that is capable of meeting all the other demands we place on it. We need to spend smarter.
there's a way to win that war.....it's simply the world wouldn't like it.....
so yeah, we're simply wasting money on bs......
we've become the 21st century british empire....
once the USD collapses, #chaos will become the norm once again....
Not sure if you’re suggesting go nuke or not, I wouldn’t be in favor of that either. Ever.
BUT. If we’re f#%^*ing going in, GO IN!
A-holes? Here we come, buckle up, hombres! We coulda been in and out of Iraq in weeks, not years.
Love him or hate him, I’ve known both, but H.W. drove the highly touted “Republican Guard” into the ground in a couple weeks and 100 hours on the ground.
Problem is/was he didn’t finish the job then. Cost him his job instead.
Either get after it like we mean it, or don’t go in at all. We’ve learned nothing since 1945 or so...
If it's not worth doing whatever it takes to win, then it's not worth fighting. Address those situations diplomatically, or through the UN, or some other way.
I don't favor use of nukes. But I don't think it's a bad idea conceptually to look at any military adventure and ask, "Is this worth nuking if we had to?" And if the answer is no, then a military solution is not appropriate.
I was in Vietnam. Never fight a war you don't intend to win. And never, never, never, never fight a war when you don't even know whom you want to win. Like Syria. Now. Whatever we are spending in Iraq and Afghanistan and Syria is a waste, because we aren't fighting any of them to win.
We have three potential existential threats--nuclear, cyber, and terror. We need first to be absolutely certain of maximum protection against each of them. Which one will happen? The one we don't prepare for.
There are three world hot spots--eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the China Sea--each with its own wanna-be hegemon--Russia, Iran, and China, respectively. We need to be able to contain any conflict in any of them to that region, and help keep our allies ready to check any ambitions of the wanna-be hegemon.
Do those things, and we will adequately protect our interests worldwide.
