Bottom line, "P5" lexicon is unfortunately now engrained in basketball.

Interesting. Just to clarify, does the Basketball P5 include the PAC-12? If so, what's the level above P5 for basketball, 'cause I think we're in that one.

The schools presently in the AAC have won 6 national titles in mens basketball (Cincy 2 and UCONN 4). Seven have gone to the
Final Four (Cincy, UCONN, SMU, Houston, Memphis, Temple and Wichita St). Is he saying we are supposed to forget about that history?

Rubbish!

Like most of these so called power conference cultists, facts are to be ignored.

That said, we are dealing with much of the same down here with the SEC wackos.

Tulsa has won the CIT and NIT as well. No shame in mentioning those.

Let's keep CIT/CBI wins out of it. Major conferences don't participate in those.

NIT is good though.

Yes, but when the CBI/CIT was first formed, major conferences played in it.

Other than that I get you...

Guess since 5 P5 teams that went 8-10 all got NCAA invites, guess he would let 5-14 or 4-14 P5 teams get NCAA invites since they had good losses.

Nobody sent Loyola of Chicago the memo.

Lets have a Loyola - Villanova championship. No P5 there. That is if you are talking the 5 football conferences. What a Syracuse a**.

Just wait, If for some reason Michigan destroys Loyola on Saturday, this is going to get worse. All you'll hear nationally is the draw backs of a non P5 team going on a run, potential for more games between two non P5's, and the probability that team gets blown out at the end, meaning basketball's biggest event has at least one game that's terrible.

I fully expect to hear a push in the coming years to reseed the bracket after the second round, still leaving open the potential for early round upsets, which fans love, but making it nearly impossible for one of those to make the Final Four, which schools will love, and fan's won't complain about.

Oh...you heard it here first:

Having Loyola-Chicago in Final Four will be the reason for low TV ratings...(and NOT because unlike recent Final Four's on CBS, this one is on cable, TBS...or its it TNT?).

Remember...it was the President of CBS that just said this week that TV ratings are DOWN...which will greatly hurt their ad rates for next year....hence why there might even be less "mid-majors" get at-large bids next year vs the few that got them this year...as the committee tried their best by inviting FIVE P5 teams that had LOSING conf records.

I think people are watching less sports in general. I will probably watch Loyola Chicago, but if it wasn't them I'd probably pass. College basketball is an absolute mess. The payoffs are now at 6 figures, prostitutes, merchandise, etc. Kansas winning doesn't mean much. They are just the better cheaters.

Except the last final with a Cinderella (Butler) was one of the highest rated finals in a decade. So anyone who knows a few basic facts knows it ain’t the Cinderella that’s the issue.

That was a final....this tournament with soooooooooooooooo many upsets in 2 brackets...CBS President was basically blaming all the Cinderellas for the drop in tv ratings.

Should be pretty easy to prove/disprove. All you should have to do is look at the ratings of the games with UMBC and Loyola Chicago vs. P5 games. By the definition K State was a Cinderella so I guess you’d have to throw the UK game out since KSU falls in both buckets.

I guarantee you the UVA-UMBC game had good ratings.

I enjoy watching my school play football and basketball, but other than that I don’t really care. For the most part it’s the same storyline every year and as far as basketball goes it’s an uglier game to watch as opposed to pro.

The UMBC/Kansas State game was the highest rated non CBS game in the first 2 rounds.

The only way a Non power league can get saved in this tournament is if Loyola actually wins the title. Simply because it hasn't happened before. There's a reason the Butler/Duke game had such high ratings. Fans want to see Cinderella play a blue blood.
