open scholarships
Assuming no transfers, how many open scholarships do we have??? I want to say 3 but am not sure about that number. How many guys do y'all think transfer out, either by choice or force?

Not if you get a reclassified Wiseman and O'Neal.

That's why I was wondering. I thought it was 3 open and was wondering how we would go about getting Simmons, O'Neal, and Wiseman should they all come.

Lomax and Harris get 2 of the 3 leaving 1 if no one transfers. I'm hoping some transfer but didn't know if any were on the table (either by choice or force)

It could be that a few players can walk on with their tuition paid for.

What happens with Parker Stewart? Isaiah Stokes? Grad transfers? Does Wiseman reclassify? Does Tyler Harris come on board WITH Lomax? Lots of moving parts...

I feel a little bad for Ty. Family loves Memphis... but Baylor is offering lots more playin time. So do you go to the home town school and play sparingly or leave and be the focus. Thats a real dilemma.

Really? Ty will shine here. Penny wouldn't have offered if it was the case that he'd play sparingly. Baylor is a dumpster fire.

Thanks for that. In my head, we only had one open + Jimario's. Looks like we had 2 open this year, which leaves 3 open today.

I'm figuring we lose 1 juco (Rhodes ?), 1 freshman (?), and Azab.

That would be 6 for Penny to use. 3-4 freshmen, then 2-3 transfers.

Keep in mind if we have a true PG or two Martin won't be playing PG next year.

I've been to Waco many times......it's an easy decision.

RE: open scholarships
I would think 5 spots would be the maximum. Any more than that unless you have some players graduate early might be a little problematic with APR.

You should have at least 5 for the 2019 class (Martin, Brewton, Parks, Thornton, Davenport)

Looks like Anfernee Simons is out. Will get an agent and go NBA draft.

Wish he hadn't gone agent route. Test the waters then make the decision.

Oh well. We won't get them all - but we came really close.
