Love how the Cincy media always paints a rosey picture. My hope is they whiff on this next hire. Thought the lack of coverage leading up was telling. Either no coverage because they are second rate or the media didn’t want to make this a big deal.
Apparently, the BE and Eggs isn’t the top of the pile. UofL with a boatload of issues is still better than Eggs and it isn’t even close.
I was listening do a WLW show at 11:30 Monday night. They kept saying Louisville was bringing in MACK because he is so "squeaky clean".
That has to be the first and last time I will ever hear Mack described that way.
Compared to Slick Rick he is squeaky clean.
I think Mack looks good to Louisville because he has managed to look squeaky clean without actually being squeaky clean. Underneath Mack’s wholesome exterior is a slime ball at heart. I just know it.

RE: OT: Mack to UL rumors
What's interesting to me about Mack is that his recruiting the past year and even looking to 2019 seems to drop off which is consistent with what i hear from X fans. It's interesting that this shoe/agent stuff is coming out around the same time. Not to mention he's moving on. On a level playing field, certainly easier to land guys at Louisville than X for a number of reasons. I guess in time it will all come out. He's had success on the court so it's seems odd he would not have kept the recruiting momentum going.

I love that this guy included Gregg Marshall on his list as he think's he would leave the Koch brothers stable for x. He obviously has no idea the folks Marshall has turned down the past several years. He lost all cred right there.

Thanks for posting. I needed a good laugh today. Coveted New BE coaching gig? 100’s of candidates? Stable job? Smart and Marshall have better gigs. They are hiring one of their assistants or former assistants. Eggs is a turnstile job.

RE: OT: Mack to UL rumors
Here's some great quotes off the Wichita St. board on this article:
1.
Big Pee fans are delusional. I find it funny that Xavier fans (as well as Butler and Creighton fans) talk as if they were always "major" and forget their roots. Our conferences are both "major" conferences at the moment. The only difference is that they have Villanova and their bottom isn't quite as bad, which is why the Big East is ranked a few slots higher. Other than that, I would argue that the top brands in the AAC are better brands than any of the Big East brands not named Villanova or Georgetown. Wichita is certainly no less major than Xavier and Xavier fans seems to forget that they haven't had the mid-major stink off their coats for very long.
Wichita State job > Xavier job
2.
Xavier fans seem to have an unrealistic view of their place in the college basketball pecking order. I wouldn't argue WSU eclipses Xavier on the national scene, but we're damn sure not trailing them.
There's been a lot of funnies over the years for Shocker fans while observing the narratives of other programs who think prying Marshall away from WSU wouldn't be much of a thing, but this Xavier post might take the cake on the irrational.

Too bad Adolph Rupp is dead. He'd be a good fit at Zavier.

You would think their coach who is an alum leaving for a different job would humble them and show them where they truly are in the landscape of College Basketball. But nope, they are going to hire Gregg Marshall
Complete delusion.

RE: OT: Mack to UL rumors
I could see if it's just a chatboard posting stuff like that, but to put that in an article really, really shows how little the guy knows about college bball outside of his own team. It's one thing to have an alum coach bolt for more money(and likely the chance to get to a final 4), but to think you can challenge the Koch bros. money is hilarious stuff. It's even funnier to think about how these same guys used to rip a lot of the teams there in the new big east with before they got there. Now they've been elevated by it. The Wstate board has it right.

RE: OT: Mack to UL rumors
Today's update via Doc:
Quote:XAVIER’S COACHING SEARCH now includes Steve Alford. Alford’s representative(s) has made Xavier aware of the UCLA coach’s interest in the gig.
UPDATE: Now, I am hearing that the search is down to two candidates: Current assistant Travis Steele and Winthrop coach (and former X coach and alum) Pat Kelsey. Stay tuned.
Alford isn’t a popular guy in Westwood after losing to St. Bonaventure in the First Four. He’s under contract at UCLA through the 2020-21 season. That’s bad. Here’s worse: If he leaves before April 30, the mutual buyout is $6.2 million.

Egg's has no donors even close to the Koch Bros. Wich fanbase eclipses Eggs as well. Which State is a place where you can make a Final 4.

Was it PDouch or Lance who said Egg's search was above bringing in a big name to win the press conference? Alford is someone Mick can beat, so I am all for it. I think this will come down to Steele or Kelsey.

I love how he said the AAC isn't close to the Big East either.
They're lucky daddy Jay Wright knows how to coach as well as anyone, or that league would be kind of a joke.
