This guy knows nothing. Winchester is not getting the QB1 job. Coaches are not impressed

Yeah, I know i'm biased, but i'm not buying that our QB situation is the worst in SB.

Troy may not be the best, but they will be Top 3. One option was an 84 on 247 and the other was Silver's backup and has played very well in mopup duty. Normally that doesn't matter.
The big advantage we have is that Silvers didn't play last spring as he sat out with a hand injury. Kaleb and Sawyer were the QBs last spring and have been through that process. The players trust them. There will be a learning curve for whoever gets the job, but I think it will be quicker than usual.

I think Shai has great potential. He's really young and kinda small but he's quick like Ellison was. He's also had to deal with a lot of instability in offensive coaches since he's been here. This will be his third offensive coordinator and he's only a RS Sophomore. Hopefully decent coaching and some stability will help him reach his full potential soon.

Not buying UL-Louisiana being that good either.

Kishawn Kelly is likely moving to DB at TXST.
Competition will likely be between:
So. Willie Jones
RS Fr. Jaylen Gipson
Tr Fr. Tyler Vitt

South has 3 Senior quarterbacks. Garvin won the job last year then got hurt, then Davis(starter 2 years ago) played. We will play whoever is healthy once the season starts. It would be nice if we could have the same quarterback start all the games and stay relatively healthy.

Zac Thomas will likely be the App starter come September. He is a thicker, shiftier version of Taylor Lamb. I can only hope that he acquires Taylors game management skills.
I was interested in who was recruiting Zac along with us and found it interesting that Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Ga State, ULM, S.Ala, and Troy offered him from the Belt.
In addition, he had offers from Mississippi State, Akron, W.Ky, MTSU and Southern Miss.
I have a good feeling about Apps trajectory for the next few years.

In terms of what is known about the possible players at that position, then I'd say it's pretty accurate.
It doesn't mean you do or will have the worst QB. Internally ya'll may be confident, but everyone else has seen nothing but Taylor Lamb since 2014.
You don't just replace that and not have a ton of skepticism.

I agree, but three or four teams ahead of us in this ranking are in the same predicament. Time will tell, but i'm just not buying that optimism is higher at the QB position at Texas St, CCU, and GSU.
Yes i'm biased, but my gut tells me our continued success will continue to pay dividends at QB. That being said, thank you to this writer. This should give Zac Thomas some extra motivation.

I agree. Satterfield will have his QB ready to play at a high level.

Very true. Satt has a special relationship with his QB's.

Talent-wise Sawyer Smith is the most talented QB we've ever had at Troy. He is also the highest rated QB/offensive player we ever recruited out of HS. I expect a lot from him. He was UCFs top QB target and one of their top commits before he decommitted. Had also offers from USF, Mississippi St and Syracuse, among others (USM, Air Force, App). Starting behind an experienced OL also helps. First few weeks will be interesting, esp playing vs Boise St at home... he is a dual-threat btw which suits our system.

Today is the first time I've ever heard of Zac Thomas. This writer may have been in a similar boat when he started researching for that article.

App fans, all of this over one guy's opinion and pre season QB's? The focus is always on the QB's when the starter does not return. Next year its our time. If anything, have fun with it and then forget it.

"All this". Are we not supposed to give an opinion? I understand why he put us there, but I have a sneaky suspension he could have a different opinion at the end of the year. Like I said, time will tell. It's not a big deal. In fact i'm glad it happened. Great motivation.

Have no issues with it. Thomas has taken less than 50 game snaps. Where else would he have placed him?

Not sure. Looks like there are three teams ahead of us in the same predicament. I guess I would place him higher than a new QB at Texas St, GSU, and CCU based being redshirted into a more consistent program. I'm sure it's a toss up with all these guys, but we'll see. No biggie.
