AAC NBA Draft Early Entrant Discussion
Thought this would be a good place to talk about the draft prospects of the best underclassmen in the AAC.
So far the top prospects are...
- Landry Shamet - PG - Wichita State
- Shake Milton - PG - SMU
- Jacob Evans - SG - Cincinnati
- Melvin Frazier - SG - Tulane
Who do you think should enter the draft?
What team has the most to lose from having their star player forego their remaining eligibility?

RE: AAC NBA Draft Early Entrant Discussion
There are still a few rumors of Tacko Fall entering the draft but I doubt he goes through with it. As I understand it, he can declare for the draft but keep his eligibility as long as he doesn't sign with an agent.

Shake Milton is the biggest prospect, IMO, outside of Rob Gray.
I think Shamet should return to WS for another year.

I will be curious to see if Rob Gray gets drafted. I am sure he will get a bunch of FA looks if not.
All 4 of the ones mentioned will declare and test the waters. I think Shake and Shamet stay in the draft. Both have shown what they can do and their weakness aren't going to be corrected too much by coming back to school. Both will be graded and slotted between 25-40 this year or next year, because of the limitations that cap their ceilings give or take a few spots. Unless they bomb at the combine, Shake's had is more serious than expected or the just really want to come back to get their degrees they will both be gone.
I have no idea about Frazier, but I assume he stays in the draft if his stock is near as high as mock drafts think it is. Evans is the wildcard. Probably just depends on the combine.

Shake is gone. Landry is 50/50. Depends on how he does at pre-draft workouts. He's a late first round pick .. which means could slide to 2nd. That's not good as there is no guaranteed money in the 2nd.

I think Evans is the one guy that could really improve his stock with another year. If he can round out his offensive skill set to go with his plus athleticism and defense I think he could go in the top 20 next year. The other guys are who they are at this point.

All of them returning ? I hadn't even considered that. What does the 2019 draft look like ? Deep ? Not deep ?

He won't know if he will slide until draft night. It only takes 1-2 teams and few analysts to say you are a likely 1st rounder for you to stay. Most guys between 25-40 (like Shake and Shamet) get told at least by a few people that they are a 1st rounder or would be taken by them in the 1st round. Semi Ojeleye was told he was a 1st rounder last year and he fell to 37th Overall. Usually about 35-40 guys are told they are a 1st rounder and most of them stay in the draft. That is why Shamet and Shake both will almost both assuredly stay in the draft. Wouldn't be shocked if one or both fell to early second round, but you aren't a LOCK first rounder unless you are a Lottery guy or maybe top 20, which neither of them will ever be. So unless they flop at the combine and fall out of that status, I would wager they are both gone.
Shake won't hire an agent immediately though. He will test without one. He isn't 100%, because of the injury. Ultimately I would be shocked if he didn't stay in the draft. Just saying its not a done deal.
Also, going 33rd overall isn't a disaster. Both Semi and Sterling Brown both got mostly guaranteed end of the 1st round like contracts even though they were 2nd rounders. Being a first guarantees that you are paid even if you are a bust.

Cronin has already stated Evans will declare without an agent. Kind of surprised Evans hasn't made that announcement yet.

I feel like if he had a quality returning group, it'd be better for him to stay. But with everyone graduating, his stock would likely only go down if he stayed. Seems like the right decision.

I think it can be argued either way. I think him getting injured 2 years in a row pressured him to go now.
WSU has a lot of PG min available now.
